After 6400 miles, my first ticket (in my MS3)...HELP ME FIGHT IT!

So last night as I was driving home from my parent's house to go to a friend's birthday party when I was pulled over by a cop. The guy was a jerk, but what pissed me off the most was he wrote me down going on the NJ Turnpike 90 in a 55! I know I speed but I keep it around 75-80 and I slowed down to 60 when I got into the 55 zone. He never told me how fast I was going and I didn't ask for a radar, but apparently he determined my speed by "pace." On top of that I have 16" wheels when my speedometer is calibrated for 18" so I know I was definitely NOWHERE near 90.

My guess is he was flying at 90 and he caught up to me in a 55. Is this even fight-able?

yes i put away my anger and still went to the birthday party. it was hard.

Re: After 6400 miles, my first ticket...HELP ME FIGHT IT!

Actually this is my first one in years. I had two before where I was tagged. I just meant first in my new MS3.

I was told by my friend cause he had to go in recently that the whole system is a business. You can pay $100/point you want knocked off. Something like that.

With that said, I feel like pacing a suspect just gives the office free reign on how much he wants to punish me. The law was not meant to be absolute and with these speeding tickets I feel like that is the case.

I'm going to ask my friend who's dad is a trooper...she speeds with impunity because whenever she's pulled over they run her plate and let her go.

I've never heard of that $100/point thing.

in jersy its $250 to knock out 2 points. A failure to bear right ticket ended up costing almost $500.

in jersey...you really don't pay off to get points taken off...you can plead down to unsafe driving and all said and done, you'll pay like ~350 for a non point ticket...but you're only allowed to use that 2 times in 5 years...if you get a 3rd, half of all the original points come on your record. It was a way for jersey to make more money and not force the driver to pay out the arse for their insurance company.

It also seems that you dont live in jersey? if not, check your state laws...NJ points may not transfer over and in that case, just plead guilty and pay the lower fine.

I was nabbed by pace doing "80" in a 45 construction zone on 287 and I plead unsafe driver and got 0 points. it was also my 1st offense.

Pacing blows.

I'd fight it, let the judge know you were speeding, but ~70mph. 20mph+ is usually bad news (more points and/or wreckless op).
