Blackjack II vs Blackberry Curve 8300

As the subject line states I'm in the market for a new phone through AT&T and want to know what you think of these two phones. I have a few friends that have the Blackjack II and love it, but I have two close friends that each have older Blackberry's and love them. They love them so much they said that they would never use another phone. I like the blackjack, but I don't like the idea that everyone else has it. The 8300 is a popular phone, but not so popular where I live so I would be somewhat original. I don't plan on using the phone at this time for internet capabilities since that cost $40.00 extra per month. I do have a small multimedia package that I use during college football and basketball season to check out scores over the weekend. Would just like to know what everyone thinks about these two phones!

I had the pearl and knew a few people with the blackjack. Not very easy to use,and the data plan is expensive.

Re: Blackjack II vs Blackberry Curve 8300

Yes, that's why I'm staying away from the data plan. I have the old Moto Razr and it's terrible. I love the flip phone technology of it and how thin it is, but sometimes when I close it it resets itself. This happens at least 1-2 every other day. If they made a razor that didn't have any problems I would be on cloud 9, but appears that they are just going to complete making crap. It sucks because I'm a big supporter of Motorola. I never owned a star tac but I knew a lot of people that did and they loved it. I owned these phones in chronological order Nokia 5165, Motorola V60t (best f'n phone ever for its time), Samsung color flip phone, and this Motorola Razor. I'm a big fan of Samsung as well, because I would still have that phone if the antenna didn't break off. It was a very basic phone, but it did everything that I needed a phone to do. I wanted to step outside the box and try the Blackberry's because I've heard nothing but good things. I know the data plans are expensive, because I went in a few weeks ago to "upgrade." In order for me to qualify for the $100 MIR I would have to upgrade my plan to balls out media and it was $40 by itself. That would make my phone bill be about 85-90 a month. Then I thought well I can get $100 now and then my annual phone bill would increase $420 a month. Basically I just said F that and I will come back in on another day when phones get cheaper. It doesn't look like these phones are gonna get cheaper and my Razor is just plain terrible. I've even looked on ebay to get these phones, but they are about the same price so I can just go to the store and purchase it.

I have the blackberry 8320 series(CURVE) from T-Mobile.. i really like it with its FULL QWERTY keyboard and wifi capabilities. I don't know anything about the AT&T plan but the T-Mobile plan(minus its somewhat crappy reception and lack of the 3G network) makes the blackberry a very cool phone. I had this phone for about a couple months and i think its awsome!

+1, 'cept I'm with AT&T. No data plan. Works great for me though, since I text and make a lot of calls for work.

Re: Blackjack II vs Blackberry Curve 8300

Well it looks like I will be looking into the Blackberry 8300. It seems no one has any thoughts on the blackjack.

Re: Blackjack II vs Blackberry Curve 8300

Well I ended up getting the Samsung Blackjack II and I hated it at first, but once I got used to Windows Mobile I absolutely love it. I found a site that would allow me to make my own ringtones and then send them in a text message to my phone. I really had no need for the Blackberry and the salesman told me what he thought of the Moto Q, Blackjack II, and Blackberry Curve 8300. He mentioned if I wasn't going to be doing a lot of emailing the Moto Q and Blackberry would be pointless. Granted he also had a Blackjack II, but he could have easily sold me on a more expensive phone. I was impressed that he only sold me the amount of phone that I needed for my needs. I can upgrade my plan at anytime for the data plan, but I'm not willing to pay $39.99 a month for it.
