Microsoft Zune

Hey everyone just picked up my first MP3 player ever, an 8GB Zune. I was wondering if anyone had any cool tips/tricks for their Zunes or a good website for them?

Also, how hard is it to rip a dvd and put it onto the zune to watch and how much memory does a DVD take up once ripped?

I am pretty pumped - this thing is so small and does so much...!!

Re: Microsoft Zune

My MP3 player is on its last leg and I will be relacing it with a Zune within the month. I will be looking at the 80GB version. My current MP3 player (Dell DJ) is a 30GB. I want the larger storage to put movies, TV shows, videos on it for the long boring times at work and for the kids on long road trips.

I got a 4gb zune, its pretty sweet. Software runs a little slow on my PC (kinda old though). It also super easy to use.

Re: Microsoft Zune

I've been trying to figure out how to take one of my DVD's and put it on the Zune...

This is what I have done so far someone let me know if I am doing it right...

1. I downloaded a DVD Decrypter and decrypted the DVD onto my computer.

2. I used another program to convert the decrypted files into .ifo extensions.

3. I used another program to convert the .ifo extensions into .avi movies.

4. I realized the Zune wont use .avi movies so I downloaded another program to conver it from .avi to a .wmv file.

Is there any easy way to do this? It's taking forever for these files to keep getting converted. I think it took like 8 hours for step 2!!

Also is there any sites to go to so I can download some videos(DVD's) for the Zune? I know this is most likely illegal but I swear it's just for educational purposes.

Re: Microsoft Zune

I think you may be able to shave a couple steps off if you find the right programs, but having a zillion different programs is pretty much your fate if you want DIY video on the Zune right now. Theoretically, I think you could find a BitTorrent site and download the WMVs of all the movies you own and still be legal - as I understand you're legally allowed one copy of all your media.

Re: Microsoft Zune

I am thinking of picking up a Zune since the ms3 doesn't have mp3 playback. Just wish it had car integration like the ipod.
