Craziest questions when buying booze?

Tonight my friends and I went to get some more beer, but only one of my friends was buying it. They checked all our IDs, and for some reason the dude singles me out and asks me what the last names of my friends are, birth date, and whether I'm a donor or not. And they didn't even ask my friends anything, pretty strange especially since I have a brand new ID.

Also one time a guy asked me spell my last name backwards, that was probably the weirdest.

What kind of weird stuff do they ask you when buying booze?

Re: Craziest questions when buying booze?

ok this is just plain stupid and it is not required by law of any clerk to ask these types of questions. the only thing a cleark can ask you is to repaet the info on the ID your showing them. this spelling backwards and names of other people shit is bullshit. either he was just playing with y'all or being a dick. take my word for it i've been in the convienience store business for 19 yrs.
a clerk can just say no to selling someone alcohol if they have suspicions about the person or ID. anything else is just being and idiot. of course it's also the business' fault also for not properly educating their employees on the requirements of the law.

Re: Craziest questions when buying booze?

I got asked my sign once by a decidedly hippy girl at a liquor store, when buying a couple hundred bucks worth of booze for a party. Still can't decide if she was trying to sniff out a potential fake ID, or I was victimized by the Worst Pickup Line Ever...

Re: Craziest questions when buying booze?

I once got asked 'What do you plan on doing with all this alcohol?' My answer was pretty simple.....'Drink it'.

Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer

The liquor store that asks these kinds of questions, is the one I don't go back to

I took my son in with me and my ex once and the clerk asked him if we were starting him early. That's the only question I've ever gotten.

Re: Craziest questions when buying booze?

May 5th, get home from work, roll over to the college and pick up the drunks for a beer run. Roll through the drive through and have them load up the back of my truck with cases of beer.

Stupidest thing they asked: "You're not going to drink ALL that are you?"

Naw... after we buy all your stuff, we're going to go across town and pour it in the river. :/
