Any Law School people (or people who are lawyers) here?

I'm giving some serious thought in starting up school again, going to law school (it's been 8 years since I've been out of college w/ an architecture degree).

questions for you people in the field:

1. I took a practice LSAT "cold turkey" and got 150. That seems pretty lousy, but i literally did no prep for it. Do those LSAT classes actually help?

2. what's a realistic LSAT to shoot for?

3. how is the field for construction litigation? that's the specialization I'd like to get into, to utilize both knowledge base.

4. any good schools that specialize in that?

it's kinda hard to bring myself to going back to school, especially since I've got a full time job, a mortgage. but on the other hand, I'm single.

thoughts?

I'm not an attorney, but I will encourage you to go to law school if you can truly afford it.

I really can't think of any degree/skill that opens as many doors...

Med school or believe it or not programming. Everyone I know that is a programmer that got at least a 3.2 GPA in college got jobs no problem.

Right, but with a law degree you have many, many more choices of specialty, public/private sector, etc. etc.

It's just an extremely versatile degree. Like healthcare, it's also pretty recession proof as well.

well, finding job isn't the problem, my current job is very secure, and, if i want to stay here, plenty of room for upward mobility.

I want to focus on law because i just don't see architecture as ultimately as fulfilling as Law.

Are you a licensed architect? Another good job, but I'd still go for the law degree

I'm going to sit for my CPA next year, that's my hope for a new career. My backup plan is to go to law school here locally, but I'm having a hard time justifying the expense and the extra time in school. For full disclosure: I hate school....

My manager is a CPA and he is now over our loan review department. He worked for an accounting firm for 8 years, but grew to hate it with all the traveling with auditing.

Re: Any Law School people (or people who are lawyers) here?

well, i like school, i enjoy excessive reading, i love fact based arguments.

and no, i'm not a licensed architect. 10 tests costing 1800 bucks over the period of 2 years so i can pay 200 bucks a year for AIA fees is kinda crappy, especially since it doesn't actually help my upward mobility any within the company...
