The Long arm of the law got me again.... UPDATED 5/10/08 page 4

yea... So i was cruising east on the 22 FWY East going to school and pretty much right when i got on the freeway i jumped in the carpool lane because traffic was kinda a bitch at the moment, and I had already left a few min late to school. Well I was probably only in the carpool lane for like 3 min when i spotted a CHP like 2-3 lanes over and so i freaked out, but I didn't just wanna get out right away and then be right next to them. So i keep going in the CPL and once i was ahead of the cop i check my mirror and i notice that they are in the CPL too about 200 feet behind me (no sirens or lights on yet), so i get out and start to merge over to the right and I was gonna try and just get off the freeway hoping to dodge johnny law. Well the CHP followed me and got behind me then hit the red and blue lights...

So i immediately pull over and and she gets out of her car and walks up to my passenger side and says that she pulled me over for being solo in the CPL (which in reality it was probably because i was speeding a bit and then she realized that i was the only one in the car.) and she asks for my DL, registration, and insurance. She goes back and writes the ticket. She come back and tells me that she is ticketing me for the carpool violation, and that she is giving me a verbal warning for speeding.

So this is my 2nd carpool ticket since December, and I am currently fighting my previous one which is still in process and stuff. I think I might have a good chance at winning this one with a trial by declaration, because on the ticket she wrote that she is going to be going on vacation from march 15th - march 30th. SO i think that if maybe i file the TBD right before she does on vacation or something then I might have a good shot at her no filling her stuff out in time.

oh well...as long as my previous CPL ticket is dismissed, i'm not too worried about this

sorry for typing so much...

adios...

he was in the carpool lane alone. You need to have at least two people in your car in that lane, some requires 3 or more...

and you asked for it, there's a reason why carpool lanes are there, so it can filter out cars on the freeway and prevent traffic jams. I wouldn't fight it if i were you, cause they may say your ass was speeding too

How many tickets will it take to get you out of that carpool lane?

I can't speak on California, but I think you will get fines with this second ticket.

LOL, I understand that. I was just saying that I don't think he has any grounds to complain.

No shit, don't get in the carpool. Only time I did was to avoid a near collision from a jackass swirving in and out of the carpool, who in fact was by himself in the car. What do you know, I get pulled over by the cop two cars back behind me and the jackass in front. I looked at it like this, better me get the ticket for the carpool violation then get into the accident and total the dumbass in front of me and I get the blame for rear-ending him LOL.

yeah seriously, it seems like there is always a new thread in the lounge about you getting a ticket for something. why not just drive like you aren't an idiot and you won't get tickets? its not worth the time fighting.

Because then we wouldn't have any fun stories.

Few people never break traffic laws...but there are just so many people around that get a good 3 or 4 tickets a year I just can't figure it out. I always wonder if or when it will sink in that maybe slowing down a bit or doing less stupid stuff while driving would mean a lot less in the way of fines, much lower car insurance...and you know, maybe never getting your license suspended which I am sure has happened to a few people on the board for repeated offenses.

im still ticket free. Almost got a parking ticket saturday night. My buddy's sister saw the cop pull up, and told me. I was polite to the officer and such, so he was nice enough to rip it up. I then backed the car onto my friends driveway. Felt sorry for the cop though, was a sunfire cruiser.
