do i need new tires? seriously??? *DSC-off drivers beware*

This is mostly to illustrate what a MS-CAI, MS-Sport Exhaust, booster octane on every other tank and driving like a jerk without the DSC on can do to your stock tires:

back tire vs front tire

close up

I rotate the tires from the back to the front for now since I got no money just yet. All I can say is: WOW what a freaken difference!! I feel the car griping like bear claws on the road compared to before the rotation. I guess I never got to feel the raw power of the car wt the new parts I put on it since my traction was failing completely. Mind you I only have 5084 miles on the car (I know I am already paying the price, I learned my lesson). I only wonder how would it feel having some Michelin or EagleF1 tires? BTW which tires would you guys actually recommend? Peace out!

Feel your front and rear tires after a hard drive sometime, and you'll see why the fronts wear so much faster than the rears. All the rears do is keep the trunk from dragging. You should rotate tires front to rear frequently so you wear them out evenly. I have Goodyear F1 All Seasons on my new MS3, and think they'll be a great tire for year round use in Colorado. Not as grippy as a snow tire in the snow, but passable. I don't like snow tires on performance cars....

Tires make a huge difference, HUGE. My tire looked similar at 15k, but I tried to wear them out a little so I could justify spending money on tires. My first set was BFG KDW T/A's. They had bulldog grip, especially in the wet, but were LOUD. This set I went with Falken FK-452's. They are much more balanced, have already lasted longer than the KDW's and were $200 cheaper. They have close to the dry grip of the KDW's, but nowhere near the wet grip.

Check out www.tirerack.com and the reviews there.

Tires are the most important part of your car. Doesn't matter how much power you have if you can't put it to the ground. Doesn't matter how good of a suspension you have if your tires break free.

I'd recommend not spinning your tires so much, only 5k miles on those fronts? That's nuts how much you wore them down, lol.

At least you wore them down evenly. You had even air pressure because you have no cupping. Just go easy on those stall burnouts next time. No reason I tire should look like that at 5xxx miles. Do you take every light like a drag?

Yeah that is a bit abusive. I suggest taking it easy, oh and not using octane booster, you don't need it and all of the money you wasted on it would go a long way toward buying a new set of tires.

PS burn outs are hard on the differential as well, I've seen many a car bust a differential because of to many burn outs...so I'd take it easy, at least a little bit.

That and rotate your tires more frequently, at least if you are going to abuse them that hard.

PPS Those tires look like they are below the wear indicators, be careful, especially now that they are on the rear...you are going to have very, very little traction in rain or snow, and being in the rear now means that much more likely to spin out. I thought I let my tires get worn down, but they were basically at the wear indicators, that looks like a good 1/32" below.

how many mile so far on the 452s? Looking to get them to replace my "oh shit it's already scary to drive in rain at 13k miles" stockers. Thx

I've had them on 20k or so and have been rotated twice. Don't expect a huge lifetime out of them, but 25k-30k is what I'm shooting for.

For comparison, I got roughly 15k out of my BFG KDW's before they were bad in the rain and LOUD on the highway. I probably could have got another 3-5k before they were gone, but the noise was too much for me.

Check out edgeracing.com for competitive pricing on FK452's. I generally head down to discount tire and get them to price match edge racing's price + shipping.

Although the stock tires do suck ass. Maybe you should chill out with the jerkish driving until you can afford new sets of tires and lots of gas, you'll need it.
