Random: Alarm Clock Alternatives

So, Usually i prefer an alarm clock. Sometime I dont wake up to one or I mis-set it, but in combonation with my phone alarm- they always work perfect (knock on wood)

So heres the question:

My upstairs neighbors are damned annoying and stomp around all the time- so I want to sleep with ear plugs of some sort

heres the catch, Im afraid my alarms wont wake me up on those really groggy mornings if Im using ear plugs of some sort so what are some alternatives that my fellow mz3 members can think of/ have used instead of an alarm clock.

Please dont make ridiculous suggestions til page 2 (if it goes that far), cause no sleepy make zach crazy!
