speed3 - IS300

ok yall so everyone prob already knows im waitin to get a white speed3 for my next car. GAP insurance isjust clearin up finally. but there might be a slight change... a guy i valet has a 2001 yellow IS300 mint condition. black leather/suede interior, 23k miles, matchin colored calipers. the only thing i do not like is its ATX but it is rwd which i love! the thing is is the price he's willing to sell it for is amazing! he'll let it go for under $15k and i am the 1st person he'll sell it to when he gets his new car. so the question is

25k+ for a speed3
15k- is300

10k is a lot of $ to mess around with and the payments would be significantly lower. but warranty is nice.... so wat do yall think

Re: speed3 - IS300

well one is a lot more performance based and the other is more luxury based, especially with the ATX trans. Just depends on what you want the car for, but I'd always take the new car over the used one.

Re: speed3 - IS300

You probably couldn't finance the 2001 for 60 months like you could the new one. And interest rates are higher on used cars so there wouldn't be that much of a difference on montly payments.

Re: speed3 - IS300

15k seems a bit high for the price. Yes, it's a Lexus, but it's also an 7 year old car. Edmund's puts the price around 13-14 with options and 'Excellent' condition.

Have you driven it a lot? The last IS300 I drove didn't feel very stable at high speeds. It also sucks in the rain, and is worse in snow if that's applicable. The speed3 is obviously faster. The IS300 has an expensive repair that will need to be done around 60K, and I don't know exactly how reliable that inline 6cyl is...
