Window Tint Question

Hey guys,
I took my car in to have it tinted a week ago and it came back HORRIBLE! I was going to post about it then but I knew I would just get hit with a "useless w/out pics" so I didn't bother. I took it back to them today and they redid it for free, but there are still some fine scratches on a few of the windows, a very small spot where one of the installers tools must have torn the film a bit, and the quarter windows in the back (I have a sedan) have some space around a couple of the edges. My question: Am I being anal? I have no personal experience with window tinting so I'm not sure if that's just part of the game or not.

Thanks in advance for your opinions/experiences

No, you're fine. I've had 10 of the 13 cars I've owned tinted and never had scratches, torn film or anything. I've not found a blemish on any of my previous tints. I question the installers experince or the quality of the film used.

Re: Window Tint Question

it's difficult to jugde a tint job until it's fully cured...however, I would not accept any defects or gaps unless they were very very cheap.
I paid $130 for a flawless tint job.

Re: Window Tint Question

Wait. Let it sit for at least 3 days. It needs time to cure before it comes out to its proper look. It will look scratched at smudgy or smokey until it has cured. After a week, if you see any inperfections, then you can bring it back.

I paid $260 for some pretty high quality tint at a very repectable place. Many other Edmonton forum members went ther with nothing but praise. Unfortunately it will be going back sometime soon. This was back in September, and i just havent had time to have the car brought in. Ever since I got it there has been a dime sized buble on the back window, and I'm starting to find small pin hole sized bubles on the drivers window, almost like there is dust or something under it. I think he did a rush job anyways. He had to leave a little while before we were supposed to pick up the car becasue he had to go to a dealership for an "emergency" job.

Re: Window Tint Question

I've had mine tint for over a year now and it's perfect except for one little spot in the rear window... and I noticed it like 6 months ago so I'm sure they wouldn't fix it now. :\ but yeah you're not being anal IMO..

**not on this forum and not unless its in a for sale thread.

Re: Window Tint Question

I agree about letting it cure. That's what I did before I took it back this time, but the fine scratches are exactly like the ones that didn't come out last time, so I'm pretty sure what's going to happen. Thanks for your guys' input, I didn't think I was asking to much of them, I'm glad to know I'm not.

Yes, curing removes any haze but scratches and rips, no. I'd do what Corbs stated.
