Well just because the Federal Government has this plan for reduction by 2020 you think they'd be overjoyed to let individual states make sterner requirements. I mean just because 16 states want sterner laws doesn't mean the rest of the country can't still go by Bush's plan.

Re: I may not like the man

I wear suits without ties all the time and I have only been profiled at the airport once or twice.

Airport security walked me to the plane so they knew I wouldn't get lost and made sure to tell me, "That I should have a very special day, for a very special boy".

I often wear suits without ties. Shirt collar is usually outside the jacket collar when I do too. How does it make you look nuts?

I can go either way, preferably without a tie, but used to wearing ties with suits.

I like the governator, and I can't imagine why the federal gov't wouldn't allow a state to make tougher restrictions, so long as they meet or exceed the federal govt's minimum requirements.

I smell corruption in the works.

Re: I may not like the man

it's not corruption...look at it this way

the feds have a requirement. The car company builds the cars to that requirement. Everything is good so far.

then a state has a tougher requirement. Now the company has to either A) build cars to multiple requirements or B) build all their cars to the tougher state requirement. Either way, it costs them money.

the problem is that since the car company is building cars in state X and is shipping them to state Z, it's interstate commerce. And that is the domain of the Feds. So the feds want the car companies to be onboard with the national strategy for emissions control, and saving them some money and hassles keeps them happy.

It's more about control and power than anything else.
