Good lesson about Speeding.

My friend was going to play tennis a few weeks ago.He wasnt really paying attention for his exit on I-95 and when he realized that he is going to miss his exit,he step on it and went across 3-lanes.He told me that it wasnt that dangerous and no one was honking or anything.HE WAS GOING AROUND 80 MPH.He made the exit, but the next thing he saw was a State Trooper right behind him with the siren on.He pulled over, the officer went to his car told him to get out of the car and turn around. He hand cuffed him, searched his car and took him to jail for reckless driving.I got a call around 10;30PM from a Bail Bond lady that I can bail him out for a 100$.I tought that was a joke cause this is the nicest guy you can ever meet.I went to the jail, paid the 100 bucks and then asked them if I can wait for him.One of the officer told me that he will be released in about 6-8 hours.I was shocked and went home.He was let go 6-am next morning and just got the paper from the court about his court date. The lawyer charge around 1000$ plus the fine he is facing. So you guys just drive safe and watch out for the cops.

Re: Good lesson about Speeding.

That sucks bad for your friend. I guess a lesson that it is better just to go to the next exit and turn around then to try to whip off at the last second if you realize you are missing your exit (especially across a bunch of lanes of traffic).

A much worse story, and I wish this guy had gotten caught) yesterday when I was out driving on my streach of I-95 some dude in a Yukon Denali nearly took me out. He had Mass. plates and was pulling out from a rest stop and I guess figured that he wanted to pass me. Well instead of being smart and passing me on the left he decided to drive on the shoulder and pass me on the right because his merge lane ended. Of course at the time I was doing about 70mph or so and he was doing about 95mph or so. Nearly creamed me and the dude in front of me since he barely managed to pull in between us and whip over to the middle lane before rear ending the guy in front of me. He must have missed both of us by less then a foot and he nearly took out a guy passing me in the left lane (who was maybe doing 75).

All in all a 110% legitimate reason to get arrested and have a nice suspension of license and hefty fine visited upon you. Probably one of the worst/most unsafe excuses for driving I have ever seen (well, that was deliberate).

Your put in a holding cell, there is no prison or jail suits. You can remain in there for weeks until the judge decides your fate or your bailed out. Its actually a good time in the holding cell, I enjoyed it both times.

I love responses like this when someone does something obviously reckless and/or illegal. I have no doubt that your friend is a great guy, but if you at the last second and at 80mph dart across 3 lanes of traffic, then if there's a cop there you deserve to get taken in. Period. Would it really have been that bad to just wait until the next exit and then come back? What if there was a car in the slow lane that the friend never saw?

Would I be pissed if it was me who the cop tagged? You bet I would be. More at myself than anyone else, cause I'd know that the cop had every right to take me in for a move like that.
