Which part of the moon?

Some of the regolith is a brighter grey color and some of it is a much darker grey color kind of more blackish.

As for why it changes color, atmospheric changes on Earth cause a color shift.

Overall the Moon has a very high albedo reflecting back on average about 50% as much light as strikes it surface (much higher then the Earth's albedo).

Nice photo, but it is OVERLY saturated. I agree with what they are saying, but the color hues are so slight as to be, for all intents and purposes, grey/brown.
