Re: Bookworms UNITE!!!

I love to read, actually have a BA in English Lit, but I didn't reply because I honestly can't remember the last book I read... I think it was Jenny McCarthy's book about her autistic son which has scared me about having kids lol

Oh, I didn't see this until now. I absolutely love to read.

Most of which you probably wouldn't know of/like though...

Jean Auel (Earth Child series; Clan of the Cave Bear, Valley of Horses, etc.)
Alice Sebold (Lovely Bones, Lucky)
Daniel DeFoe (Moll Flanders)
Jane Austen (Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility)
Michael Cunningham (The Hours)
Franz Kafka (The Trial, The Metamorphosis)
Virginia Woolfe (Mrs. Dalloway... etc.)

etc. etc. etc.

i love to read, i didnt have time to read things i wanted before since i didnt have the time. it was a lot of reading that was work related. but now i read for fun. i normally read every night.

i like all different types of books, last night when we (my date) got out of the movies we stopped at Borders thats next to the theater..i almost got this book that was about the mind, how the mind works etc. i know a lot about this, but i want to learn more. never hurts.

im just wondering what you guys like, books you read in the past or heard off that are worth looking at.

Re: Bookworms UNITE!!!

Lara, my thesis was on Austen actually... but before I start going on and on lol

I will read just about anything; before the holiday rush I'd go to the library once a week and stock up. I think a kinda book club thing would be awesome to do, we can rotate who picks books? Just an idea off of Dubs.

I can walk around borders and barnes and noble for hours... I love going to the library and just finding a chair and reading for hours.

Re: Bookworms UNITE!!!

oh and while I've thought of it, how do you guys feel about books on tape?? I took a 6 hr each way drive to Syracuse this summer and got a nice long book on tape to keep me company. I have no problems with being distracted by the book/driving so I was able to keep up with the story line but I know some people think that it's too distracting.

oh I thought Lovely Bones was so sad, to be stuck on the outside looking in and knowing what happened. I hate feeling helpless... Most of your books I've read at some point in classes I've had; Wolfe, Defoe, even Kafka I believe, and Austen but seriously I need to get my thoughts together before I ending up posting 100 times talking to myself...
