sad times for my girlfriend... what to do (updated w/ pics) :: UPDATED 1/15/08

SEE PAGE 2 FOR UPDATE

today a little after 5pm my girlfriend was leaving her work near the mall and had called to tell me she'd be home shortly w/ pizza for dinner and we were to decorate the christmas tree i had just picked up. at about 5:15 apparently she had crashed her car on the freeway, flipping over and sliding upside down along the center divider. around 6 i started to get concerned, thinking she was having car trouble or stuck in traffic, i just had the feeling something wasnt right. i called twice but no response. at 7pm an unknown phone number was calling me so i picked up and it was the local hospital emergency room telling me that my gf had been involved in a car accident and was in the ER that i needed to come down. how freaking scary is that call. i call her dad right away and we both go over the the hospital. she is bruised and banged up, nothing is broken/bleeding etc. she was on some pain killers and medication to calm her down but all together in one piece. shortly after arriving at she was released from the hospital and we tok her home at about 8.

her 96 jetta im told is totalled, she only had liability on it. she does not currently have medical, she works at PF changes and they have 1yr of probation before you are eligible for medical. we actually filled out paperwork and selected her plan last night. ironic. she lost her cell phone in the ordeal, so we'll have to get her a new one. her phone line was eligible for an equipment upgrade in january 2008, soo close. i dont know where her car was drug off to, we'd like to get whatever personal belongings are left in it. i guess tomorrow we'll file the accident claim (she has progressive) but we dont have an accident report yet. i have a motorcycle, so i figure i could ride my bike when shes ready to go back to work waitressing and she can drive my car. im fearful of that b/c she did just wreck a car.
its christmas time, rent and bills are due, gifts to be bought, she has an appointment on monday morning to meet w/ a university counselor so she can start taking classes again to get her degree. what a crappy event to happen to anyone.

PICTURES (added 12/2/07)
the car is done for. it was incredible to see. based on seeing the damage, it appears she hit the concrete center divider almost perpendicular to the flow of traffic, thats why the airbags went off. all sides of the car were scraped, so it must have done 1.5 rolls to end up upside down and sliding. the drivers side tie rod must have broke at impact, notice the wheels are both pointing outwards. the passenger side A pillar looks a little smushed, but the bigger part is where the roof looks to have crushed in at the joint w/ the A pillar.

we got her a "working phone" but thanks to irish_ayes, she'll have a suitable replacement.

it had almost brand new wheels and tires but they are all rashed up.

all the brown stuff is oil. inside the car had lots of coolant, probably from the heater core.

Re: sad times for my girlfriend... what to do

I am glad to hear that she is OK. That is the most important thing. All the monetary stuff is replaceable. Don't let that stuff stress either of you out. Hope she gets better soon.

This sucks. however if it wasn't her fault and there was another person involved the other persons insurance sould cover her medical and her I think it verys from state. Im sure you can find a old phone for her to use in the mean time as well. I think the most important thing is that she is live and well and that she will get to spend christmas with family. life is the most important thing not cheesy bought gifts

I'm still sorry to hear this

thanks for the replies. i just needed to get that off my chest and literally had no one to talk to.

i think we have a phone laying around she can use temporarily.

im really glad shes okay. she just needs to sleep off her initial shock and frustration and whatnot. tomorrow she'll be more "agreeable" to start moving forward.

 glad she's not badly injured. hope everything works out okay and she doesn't have to pay the bills herself. a trip to the hospital can be thousands these days, even before they really do anything...

we're on cingular/at&t. if the phone is unlocked it could work right? we'd just need a new sim card.

Im not sure if its unlock able or not. It makes phone calls but the screen likes to stop working every once in a while, sometimes for a minute, sometimes for days. allways makes and recives calls though. if you know of a place that will unlock it your welcome to it. its a samsung sgh-d415

Honestly, just count your blessings that she is ok. The fact that she flipped a car on the highway and shes ok means that there was someone or something watching over her. Just be glad that she will be there to celebrate Christmas with you. Forget the presents. If anyone gives you or her shit for not getting them presents then they're not friends. I'm so glad to hear that she is ok and I wish you the best. Enjoy the holidays with her by your side.
