Run in with the law...

Alright, so, about a half hour ago I get woken up by a phone call from my younger sister asking me if I could pick her up from the bar that she was at. Being a good brother and all, I drive 25 minutes to go get her. I saw that she was waiting outside the place so I pull up to the curb, blinkers on and everything and she gets in the car. Two seconds later, lights flashing behind me and on the loud speaker they tell me to pull onto the side street. I'm thinking wtf did I do??? I had my lights and signals on, seatbelt, check. Nothing illegal. So the cop comes over and begins our conversation by saying "Who the fuck do you think you are? Can't you fucking read? There's a no parking sign there." So I tell the officer politely that he was correct in stating that there was a no parking sign, but legally I am allowed to load passengers if it is only a temporary stop. Realizing his stupidity he starts getting defensive and asks me "What the fuck are you doing driving at 3:30 in the morning?" Once again, I politely tell him that I'm picking up my sister from the bar because her designated driver had left. Now this is what really pissed me off. The asshole has the nerve to say "Well your cunt of a sister shouldn't be hanging out at bars this late." At the time I controlled my anger cause I didn't want my ass beat by 3 cops, so I just tell him that I was leaving and that if he wanted to write me a ticket to just go ahead and I'll fight it in court. So he finally let me go, but not before I got the badge numbers and car plates from the vehicle. Should I report these guys? I have two direct witnesses in the car, my sister and one of her friends.

Re: Run in with the law...

I think they were staking out the bar area looking for drunk drivers and the cop was pissed when he saw that I wasn't in fact a drunken bar-goer. I was completely shocked. I mean, I've dealt with some pretty snide and condescending officers before, but this was completely ridiculous. I've never been spoken to like that in my life. To say that about my sister... man, it just makes my blood boil. My father is a laywer, so I called him up on the way home and he said it wasn't worth reporting cause I would just give the cops more reasons to look out for me on the road. I think they know my ms3 cause I saw them scoping it out as I drove off. I know they definitely have my license plate now, and I'm in their precinct's jurisdiction every weekend (it's where the majority of the bars are).

I would report him in a heartbeat. There is no reason for anyone in a professional position to use the "c" word towards anyone. Hell, I would even write a letter to the editor of your local paper about the professional manor of that local police department.

Yes report him. If his car is behind you, his dashboard cam should have the whole thing on tape.

Well see here's the weird thing. The vehicle that pulled me over was one of those emergency rescue units. Do they have the same video equipment in them as regular patrol cars?

ESU Truck? Probably no camera.

Witnesses: your sister and her friend, plus 2 other cops? Was your sister drinking? Was she visibly loaded (if she was drinking)? How many cops? Three? Did you pull in right in front of the ESU truck?
Not trying to be a buzzkiller but, be absolutely sure before you walk into your precinct and complain ( and you can be sure you'll be on camera at that time!)you didn't break any traffic laws because, like here in CT, I believe they have a year to charge you.

Just like regular society, there are a lot of assholes out there. You just ran into three with badges, radios, pepper spay and sidearms.

Good Luck,

Re: Run in with the law...

Yes she was drinking, that's why I was trying to get her into the car quickly before she ran her mouth. As for the truck, I was stopped in the shoulder and they came up after me, so no, I didn't pull right in front of it.
