need mp3/itunes help!!

ok so my dad has a sandisk sansa mp3 player. he also has iTunes. i have no experience with iTunes so i am lost. when you download songs in iTunes, the songs are m4p (not mp4) format, right? well the sansa doesnt support m4p, only mp3. is there a way to convert the m4p to mp3 in iTunes? if not, how can i get the iTunes downloads onto the sansa???

Re: need mp3/itunes help!!

I may be wrong, but I believe mp3s on Itunes are indeed mp3s. I think what you just need to do is choose a program that will work with your sansa, whether it be Real Player, Windows Media Player, etc.

Re: need mp3/itunes help!!

Heres what to do:

Highlight all the songs in your itunes library from the main screen.

Click on edit, then preferences in the itunes menu on the top.

Click on the advanced tab.

click on the tab that says "importing" under the advanced section

where it says "import using", choose mp3 encoder.

click OK to get out of the menu

Now with all the songs highlighted, click on the "advanced" option at the top of the screen (up by file, edit)

the 4th option down should read "convert selection to mp3" click on it

it should now convert all the flies to mp3. It may take a while, depending on how many songs you have. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more help.

Re: need mp3/itunes help!!

will that work if they are 'protected'???

edit: tried it and it says you cannot convert 'protected' files. this basically means iTunes is preventing me from converting to mp3 using iTunes...

Re: need mp3/itunes help!!

if they are protected, the only way to change the format is to first burn a cd with the protected files, then re-rip them to your computer off of that burnt cd using the format that you want.

If you bought songs off the itune store, they only come in the AAC format (.mp4 extension). This is the only way to get around the protection and change the format.
