Re: Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 for Christmas?

already have a 360, but i'd rather be given a second 360 than a ps3. that thing's a debacle.

sony's mucked it all up all so bad i dont even wanna support their gaming division anymore. every day they've got more bad news.

ratchet and clank sold like 67k in the first month, and its been their most promising game so far. what a joke.

Re: Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 for Christmas?

PS3 online play is a joke.

Xbox 360 is much more user friendly. Only thing I am not crazy over is 360's controller. I'm so used to the PS2 controller.

Hopefully get 360 for xmas.

[/quote]75k actually but thats not really any better... sales dont determine how good a game is but how successful the game is. though i think it sucks since resistance has sold over 1 mil copies but ratchet is slacking... goes to show you that next gen is all about shooting games which is bad news for sony since the ps3 is adventure/action titles

though honestly i havent really seen an objective response yet

anyways christopher why kind of games are you into? otherwise just asking a vague question is just going to get regular fan boy responses and rarely any real help. also name some games in the past that you really loved, and things that you care for(ie: wireless , media formats, and etc) because saving money to me is always a big thing. when i invest into a console i look at exclusives and what it has to offer and what my wallet can afford. state all of those things and i will try to be as unbias as i can to help you get the most out of your money.

oh and keepjeepin... ps3 online play is a joke? its been pretty great to me. i guess i must have been blessed with a good ps3 and internet connection

edit: and of course you can go blindly buy a console for one or two games... like many people do lol

My nordic green mazda3 is in a new home now.

Re: Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 for Christmas?

I have both system and only play 1 game online with my 360 , plus I only bought 1 game for my 360 within the last year. Not to mention the 360 brakes on you every 3-6 months. I have 100 people on my 360 buddy list and ALL of them are on 2nd,3rd,4th,5th or even worse 360 consoles. As for the PS3 the online is free and not to mention there is ZERO lag in games like warhawk that has 16 vs 16 players in 1 game, thats unheard of in the 360 world. Also you can get a PS3 for $399 now and thats 1 helll of a deal if you have a HDTV, even in 1080i the blue-ray is out of this world. If I had to chose 1 system all around it would be the PS3. I also cant stand all those 360 fanboys that love a system that brakes as much as it does. I have some advice also for MicroShaft, When you make your next system have a real company make your hardware machine. The reason the 360 brakes so much is because that what happens when you have a software company try to make hardware. I hope I opened you fanboys eyes a little about the truth. HAPPY GAMING

Re: Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 for Christmas?

First of all, thanks for the responses.

I must admit, I like eye candy. I like sports games, FPS like Call of Duty and, of course, racing games.

Initially, I was convinced I wanted to get a 360. However, after a little reading, the PS3 has HD BluRay built in. That is extra with the 360. A separate decent BluRay player will run you at least $300. So, at $499, that makes the PS3 a bargain.

So, since most of the games I like are available on the 360 and PS3, I didn't give that much thought. As I said, I want eye candy over most anything else. Playing online? I almost never do that, so that's not such a big deal to me.

Finally, the reason I asked the question as I did is because I was hoping to hear arguments about one system over the other. Fanboys are welcome. So long as they make accurate, valid points.

Thanks!

I've got a 360.. I love it.

Only games I want that are PS exclusive are Gran Tourismo, MGS4 and FF series.

I didn't like the PS3 controller and how light it was without dual shock (which is now a moot point since the PS3 controllers are going to be dual shock)

It's a tough call really, PS3 is still so young. I'll probably get one down the line, but I'll say the 360 is a pretty good "right now" choice.

i wasnt making a comment on whether rachet and clank is any good, im sure its quite good. i was making a comment about the future success of the console based on the success of probably the best game that's launched for it in a year of production.

newer 360s should have the bugs worked out. ive got friends that are still on their first one for over a year (mine is my original as well), and i've had friends that have gone through more than one. that does suck.

i dont think keepjeepin was saying online doesnt work, i think he was addressing the fact that it lacks a good deal of the functionality that makes XBoxLIVE so good. being able to play online is really only one part of the equation, and for sony to be running the less-complex online service while claiming that their system is about much more than games seems somewhat contradictory.

sony just cut the price of their dev kits in half, so maybe we'll see devs more willing to come over to sony, but in the past, they offer lackluster support to studios and charge them an arm and a leg for the privelage of being on their console, so i wouldnt exlect much of a game catalogue for another year.

i wouldnt call me a fanboy, ive just been following the race from the beginning, and am at a point where i dont want to get a PS3 on principle, because i dont want to reward a company that would make the anti-customer decisions their making. the way they're acting, they shouldnt last in a consumer-driven economy. and if the R&C numbers are an early indication, it looks like that might be what happens.
