Star Trek Voyager...:(

well i just finished watching the final episode of Voyager. My friend spent $35 for a bootleg copy of all 7 seasons out here in Iraq from the locals. This is my first foray into Star Trek. After an entire lifetime of bashing trekies and any at all related to ST, ive come to the conclusion that ive been completly and utterly wrong about it. I fell in love with the show from the 1st episode where Captain Janeway gets them all stuck in the Delta Quadrant. Its been edge of the seat hawtness the entire way through. Although since it is bootleg there is no special features or anything like that. I have no clue as to what happens to them after they get home.

Do Seven of Nine and Chakotay get married?
Do they ever talk to Neelix again?
Does Tuvok get his cure?
Does the Doctor ever get his homies freed from the mining colony?
Did the Borg assimilate the new technology future Janeway brought the crew and fuck up mankind later on?
Is there a extra part explaining any of this we didnt get to see due to the nature of bootlegedness?
Does anyone else share my love for Seven of Nine? She and Kess (when she had the long hair) were by FAR the hottest chicks to ever grace a TV screen/laptop lol. My buddy has since acquired all the other ST series and has ordered every last movie.

I shall miss you Jeri Ryan you sexy sexy woman you. OMG i shall miss you.
Any comments on what might have happened to the crew would be highly appreciated. NO ST bashing.I ask the mods to ban or at least delete posts from ppl who junk up my thread with useless crap like that. This thread is for Trekies and fans of the series in general.

Live Long and Prosper - "Tuvok" I LOVE YOU GENE RODDENBERRY!

I am glad that you have seen the light .... Be sure to give the other Trek franchises a shot. I really liked DS9, but to get the full effect of it, you have to see TNG as they intertwine the 2 stories

Re: Star Trek Voyager...:(

i used to be a huge star trek fan if only because of the philosophy that used to be infused in the show, mostly during next gen days. i did enjoy voyager as well for a brief stint.

i've respect for fans of the series, i enjoy it as well but i can't answer those questions homie, sorry.

and man you guys must be BORED at times over there... :P

DS9 is really good -- as is TNG but only after season 1 -- season one was horrible.

if you fart and no one hears it -- did you really fart?

Totally. My favorite episodes were towards the end of the series, but to know the story you kinda have to watch from season one to the end.

Re: Star Trek Voyager...:(

Well aside from the few episodes where crap from the future comes back or in the future (i.e. when Harry 'n company find Voyager frozen in ice) we don't really find anything out. I want to say that Janeway is promoted to Admiral and makes a cameo giving orders to Picard in one of the movies, but I've really only seen the last few movies once so I can't remember correctly. As for the borg assimilating future-Janeway's technology I think the idea is that the virus in her body screwed them over enough that they lost whatever it is they had gained. That being said storylines with the borg have never really seemed to stay consistant. I love some of the random info. out there. For instance did you know that the original Enterprise (Kirk's Constitution class ship) is the size of one of the Warp Nacels on the Enterprise D?

My thoughts on the different series.
Original- don't really like it ('cept for a few episodes)
TNG- I grew up on this and can pretty much tell you the plot of an episode after about 30 seconds.
Voyager- Loved it from the start though some times more than others. I personally love how they discover what, 3 new kinds of FTL propulsion while in the delta quadrant.
DS9- It's a little slower to really get into but still entertaining. I think I missed most of the last season though. My favorite part was the Defiant (you'll see)
Enterprise- Liked the show in general, though it drove me crazy how they have basically none of the protocols that are present in the later incarnations. Granted this is when they first go out and start exploring but there should still be some common sense. I mean they're like, "Hmmm, that ship that keeps appearing and blasting the crap out of us is coming back again. No no, don't power up the weapons or go evasive.... maybe they want to be friend's this time." They fixed that all later on of course as they learned stuff but it seemed like things that make sense now (like when encountering something unknown) they don't even think about.
Movies- Love them all.... though I'm pissed off with what they did at the end of Nemesis. You'll see

Other things I suggest seeing (if you haven't)
Battlestar Galactica (the new series). It's the nitty gritty dirty future. They don't have "magic engines" like Star Trek, and they shoot real bullets. Waiting for season 3 on DVD.
Firefly. Only one season aired before they cancelled it. There was such an uproar from the fans that it was made into the motion picture Serenity. Watch the series, then watch the movie. Awesome!
Lost. Just got into this this last year and I'm going crazy waiting for the next season to come out on DVD. Didn't catch me at first, but by the second or third episode I was hooked.
Dead Like Me Story about a girl who dies and then becomes a grim reaper. Funny dry humor.

Re: Star Trek Voyager...:(

Firefly was really good, Diana has the series and got me the movie as a present. With that being said, I think the creators tried a little too hard to incorporate the concept of the old west into the series. But, I digress.

I'm excited that they're continuing the franchise by making another movie. I hope they don't hack up Gene's original work.

Wow Marshall I hadn't even heard they were going to make another movie. Can't wait.

Oh yeah, some more shows you should get a hold of:
-Heroes
-the 4400.

If you had to pick one I'd say go with Heroes.

Re: Star Trek Voyager...:(

Oh and another thing I liked about Enterprise is they did an episode that tied directly into an Original Series episode entitled "The Tholian Web". In the episode the ...... Intrepid gets sucked into........ something and disappears. In the Enterprise episode they show that the ship was pulled not only back in time (~150 years) but that it had been pulled into a mirror universe. This way they could have it's highly advanced technology (compared to the time) in the past without it effecting the future of the star trek universe as we know it. So they're running around on a Constitution star ship, wearing OS uniforms..... hilarious!
