reckless driving in va

so, i was driving back to foggy bottom, DC, from chintilly, where the gun show was this weekend, and i got pulled over. i was in a rental car doing 83 in a 55. i got pulled over for reckless driving. does anyone know what the fines, etc are for this? i'm hearing all sorts of things including jail time, and frankly, its scaring the shit out of me. any information would be great guys. thanks

This ticket does not tell you what the fine is? All the tickets i have gotten always show what the fine is and how to fight it if i wanted to.

Damn dude that sucks. Even when i lost my lic for street racing all they did was give me a huge ticket then i got a letter in the mail saying as of the 1st of the month my lic was suspened for 3 months. Never even had to go to court. Now this was 12 years ago so i know things are alot diff now. I would call the clert of courts and see what they say.

Wow, bro...

VA, this past summer, just SERIOUSLY raised all their driving violation fines mucho $$. I'd hate to see how much the court is going to say your fine was. Any reason for the excess speed? Have any violations on your record now??

http://www.vatrafficlaw.com/reckless.html This Web site states up to a year in jail and/or up to $2500 fine!

http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/18/1818.asp This site does NOT offer any better news.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/...ing-laws_N.htm Speaks of the new laws effective July 1st.

Keep us updated, as the verdict does NOT look promising unfortunately... VA is ONE state I do NOT speed in and if I do - it is under 10mph over the posted limit. One plus side is that you are NOT a VA resident.
