I need help on something... POLL/advise please

Ok here is the problem, last night my computer shit itself inside and out, i went to put it in hibernate when i went to bed and there was a blue screen with some errors and stuff, so i restarted and it wouldnt load windows, i changed boot order, tried safe mode, tried what i thought was everything.

Here is where it gets good, so i didnt want to reinstall windows because i have to many valuable things saved (mostly business and (chuckles) so i say fuck it, i went to BestBuy and bought a new computer and wrote it off as a business expense (which is why i need a working computer) so i get home and get the new computer loaded then plug my old hard drive in and transfer all the stuff i need.

Then i start working on the old computer and all the sudden it fixdisc which took like 20 mins and now it works good again
The enviroments safe, and its acting like it always has.

Old computer:
4200+ AMD
3gb ram
320gb HD
Win XP media

New computer
5600+ AMD live
3gb ram
400gb HD
Win Vista premium

So i paid $725 after tax for the new tower, now do you think i should try to revert the new one to get rid of all my stuff? Or just sell off the old one

Old computer facts
New PS 3 months ago
Little over 2 years old

I know someone will buy the old one if i put it up on eBay, it might be 2 years old but it is a monster for multitasking, and another thing is i want to get a AMD quadcore computer, but i do realize those arent going to be out for 3-5 months and will be over priced within the first year..

Thanks for reading so much

Sell off the old one, but get yourself a copy of 64-bit XP so you can hold off on having to deal with Vista until MS stops support. Keep the old one, send me the new one. Obviously.

LOL no. Pray it's an AM2 socket, then when the quad cores come out you'll be good

I learned the hard way about why not to use AMD. Don't get me wrong, for the most part they're great processors. But when software is developed and tested, it's not done on an AMD, that includes Windows, it's tested on an Intel. Since the processors manipulate data differently, you're more likely to have an error occur with an AMD than you are an Intel.

Lose the AMD

I think it should be because my 4200+ was 939 and the next chipset was AM2 i think, or AM, i know 4800+ is the last 939 socket so the 5600+ is something different

Sure is works, but so does ours and we like it better anyway :P This is like arguing Mac vs. PC

Yeah, my 4400 is too. My only cause for concern was that I know they pared back their production of some particular chips for the AM2 socket, but it may be those were only the "older-gen" ones like ours :P
