I wonder the researchers from UCR are connected to this new paintjob?

You can get paint on new Kenworth trucks that change color depending on temperature. Also Duplicolor makes a spray paint that does this, but only 2 colors. Like red to blue, etc...

Haven't heard of the duplicolor, but Alsa Corp. has paint that changes colors in temp. They have a wide variety of colors too. It's pretty wild because if you let your car set in the sun for a while it will be one color and when you take off driving the wind cools your car, and you can see it change going down the road. Alsa is pretty leading edge in paint, the have some pretty cool effects.

Re: Future cars can change colors at will

Ford had a neat paint that changed colors from a greenish-blue to a purple-blue color, dont really remember the name of the paint now. Also both PPG and House of Kolors had "chameleon" paint that changed color depending on how you view it. None of those were nealry this advanced though. Sounds pretty crazy to me, but we will see what Nissan does with "self healing" paint.
