Re: Your being tracked

from a safety and general concern standpoint its not a bad idea...but if some kids decided to indulge in some lsd and go streaking that would probably defeat the purpose.

I think this is complete bullshit. These same RFID chips are going to be implanted in those silly National ID card that they plan to issue next year. Being tracked by the government isn't on the top of my priority list, and if I were a parent, I would be outraged by this idea and not let my child attend a school that wants to track their students.

the problem is that for every parent who feels that this is bullshit, there is a parent that sees it as a good way for a school to keep their children safe. Imagine a Columbine-like situation, where the school knows the location of each and every student to within a few feet. That could be a big-time life saver. Or so they will say.

And so who do you support in the school-board election? The guy who wants to keep your kids safe, or the guy who hates children so much that he won't implement a simple and cost-effective technology that could have prevented the Columbine massacre? Dude..why do you want the children to die?!?!?!?!?

You know what I want to know? If there are really such big problems in schools with violence and safety, when the fuck are we going to stop trying to treat the symptoms with RFID tags, zero-tolerance policies and the like, and start trying to identify and cure the actual causes? Because I went to school as a kid just like everyone else. And I sure as hell don't remember there being as many problems as we're supposed to believe exist today. So either there was a time when this shit didn't happen on the scale that it supposedly does today, or it really isn't happening as much as "they" have convinced us that it does. Probably both. Either way, RFID tags aren't going to do shit to actually stop the problem, whatever the hell the problem really is.
