tl story

I was coming home monday night and I was riding along side this dark blue 04-05 Tl. This must have been a guy with his parents car cause he looked to be 20 with his girl as the passenger. I normally ignore people who street race, but it was a lonely double lane road and I wanted to play with a luxo type car knowing I would lose. We slowed to about 15mph and did the classic 3 honk start. I popped it into first and matched the revs which took off with a nice tire screech for a lil 4 banger. I actually stayed about a 3/4 car length in front of him till about 65. After 65 he started inching up to about even side by side where we then shut it down for a stop light down the road to go our separate ways. I didnt get the jump on him because I could hear that slushbox auto rev up for what seemed like forever then finally shifted. I suppose there can't be much driver error on his part if its an auto since you basically push the pedal and go( no wheelspin from him either). Once he hit vtec(I guess) His car began to pull pretty good which I'm sure would have creamed me after 65, But I was looking for some input, are they just alot heavier and thats why or...

Re: tl story

are you sure he knew you two were racing? cause i'd think it would be hard for the 150hp 3i to keep up with a 270hp/238tq (2005 TL) v6 on the straights.... unless the TL is really really heavy.

Re: tl story

you popped it into first? is that even possible? with rev matching? Thought there was a lockout.

Re: tl story

Going 15 mph, if you tap the gas you can pop it into first. And I don't think a TL has vtec

Re: tl story

How big was this guy, his girl, and his parents? If they were a good 300+ pounds each, you got yourself a slow car.... and a slammed car for that fact :lmao:

Re: tl story

Well i heard him slam the gas and that engine revved real loud before we bothtook off. They have valve timing in the 6 cylinder so i figured i would coin it vtec. I was in 2nd and threw it in 1st without popping the clutch. Just wanted to give ya story and ask opinions. It not like i built it up and said i blew his doors off, i just wanted to know. Prolly bout 250pds in there car and i was by myself.
