Anybody using Ubuntu?

The last time I gave linux serious consideration was about 4 years ago. It was a redhat distro I ran for a while till I got fedup with the learning curve. Well recently someone convinced me to give Ubuntu (using it right now) a shot. I must say I'm pretty damn impressed!! The installation wasn't cryptic and was easy enough for anyone to install. It took a whole 10 minutes too!! I jumped on the web and all plugins downloaded automatically (no searching for packages and installation instructions). As far as I can tell all connected hardware works right out of the box. Wow, finally a Linux distro that can give Windows a good run for the money (although seasoned users would probably argue that it did that a long time ago ). Give it a shot, it's better than you think.

Re: Anybody using Ubuntu?

didn't the new ubuntu come out recently? i have a friend who's been running linux for a while now and he was really excited that the new ubuntu was being released. i tried running ubuntu a while a go but wasn't too excited about learning how to get simple things to work or trying to figure out what i needed to download and all that other stuff. it's good to hear that it's pretty easy. maybe this will be the year i give it a shot.

Re: Anybody using Ubuntu?

Yeah I'm running 7.10. This thing is much easier to configure than redhat. It's basically linux for dummies. Now I need to use Wine to install office 2003 and COD2

Re: Anybody using Ubuntu?

Yeah it's pretty sweet. I like it. And if you want to get into Linux, go with Ubuntu, hands down. Very easy setup.

I haven't used wine yet. Where can I learn more about it, and download it?
