Do other Mazda 3 drivers ignore you on the road? Where's the love?

First off, I own a 1989 Mustang GT that I bought new and now have restored and modified. It mostly stays in the garage except for taking for county drives in the Shen Valley, taking to events with my Mustang club and occasionally drag racing at Eastside, VMP or Richmond dragway.

When driving my Mustang (now or in the past), if I initiate a little hand wave to a fellow Mustang driver they usually acknowledge back. It doesn't happen all of the time, but probably 80-90% of the time. A lot of the times they wave before I do!

Now the Mazda 3. I've had mine for a month now and haven't had ONE person acknowledge my wave when we pass by. They usually don't even look my way or notice I'm driving a 3. I guess that fellow Mazda 3 owners just don't care about what they drive or feel any emotion when seeing another 3 on the road.

I do enjoy this site and visit it everyday. I have learned a lot about my car including the very nice write-up (with pictures) showing how to change the oil & filter on my car. Which was very helpful since this is the first car I've owned that doesn't use a screw-on filter.

If you ever see the car pictured in my profile with Virginia license plate "JHWKS-KU", please wave to me!

I have waved to maybe 20 people in Oregon. I have gotten one wave back. Sometimes I wave and then get closer and see it is some old lady. Looking at me like I'm nuts

Re: Do other Mazda 3 drivers ignore you on the road? Where's the love?

I have also encountered the NO WAVE!!!!!
There are several reasons for this (1) Old (2) Blind (3) Just plain rude (4) All of the above
Whenever I encounter another 3 on the road I always kind of get excited wondering who is driving. Sometimes it is some wrinked up old person driving 14 mph. (1) I will wave trying to be friendly only to get the finger back.(2,3 or 4) or block the road so I cant pass.(3) Now most of you youngster here on the forums would probably place me in at least 2 of the 4 catogories.(1 and 3) But i will always wave hopeing to make a new friend on the road................ Clue
happy waving

haha thats why i ride a motorcycle. 98% of people on bikes wave back and acknowledge each other when passing (cept for those hells angels type guys)

i see a couple 3's a day driving and none pay any more attention to me than what you're all describing. but maybe thats because i only look for waves from other hatch owners! ha!

If a girl waved at me, in a Mazda 3 or not, I would totally wave back.

My wife flips them off... then they might look over and then she smiles and waves all crazy like... haha

I wave, I find that after time... if you see the same people, they eventually figure out you are waving because of the cars you drive. I love the 'pull alongside on the highway, smile and wave bit' people think you are going to run them off the road or shoot them or something...

Oh well
