What would your project car be?

Been a while since we've had one of these and I can imagine people have changed their minds over time. So I thought I'd make a new one.

Let's say you had an entire day out of your weekend free, every week, for a year.
Let's also say you had the funds (within reason. we're talking s13/sw20/'68 mustang shells. no motors out of exotics.).

What would be your project car? Be as general or specific as you like.

I'll start.

Shell: white '89 Mk1 MR2 SC, stripped right down to the chassis

Body:
-relocate fuel filler door and associated components to rear
-mirror intake scoop onto left side of the car and reroute intake here
-mount intercooler behind right side scoop
-hugely wide fender flares

Drivetrain:
-2zz-ge (Celica GTS motor)
-valve springs, raise rev limiter to 9000rpm
-forged pistons
-forged race cams
-bolt-on supercharger kit
-6spd tranny from Celica GTS
-1.5 way LSD
-short-shifter

Suspension:
-coilovers
-front and rear swaybars
-polyurethane bushings all around

Wheels/Tires:
-16" flat black Motegi Trak Lite (assuming they come in 16x9.5)
-blue lugs
-275/30/16 r-comps

Interior:
-full black Celica GTS interior (complete with gauge cluster and center console) with suede inserts and panels, roofliner, etc.
-Momo steering wheel
-pair blue Bride Brix II seats

Notes:
Not too terribly fast a car, but with a stripped weight of probably 2000lbs (stock weight 2300lbs), it'd be reasonably quick, and with that suspension setup and the insanely wide r-comps, it'd stick like mad. Definitely something I'd be proud to bring to the track, and maybe even daily drive a little. I would seriously consider undertaking this project within the next few years.

Re: What would your project car be?

MKI VW GTI red with Euro bumbers and shaved rain trays and a set of round cross hairs for headlights

VR6 swapped with S/C and a Schrick head pushing about 6 psi. And a digifant or Mega squit ignition set up
A/C delete and true r & p steering set up.

Susp:
full coilover with a set of beefy sway bars and a set of camber plates.

Wheels and tires:
A set of widened steelies black powder coated with some G force stickies on them
maybe 245/40/15
and a set of BBS LM's for shows

Interior:
MK3 swap with a set of MKIV R32 Recaros and a custom gauge set up where the radio should be
move battery to rear of driver with a cut off switch

ICE:
nada just the sweet sweet sound of a s/c'd VR6

Good thread

Either a 65 GTO with a rotisserie restoration or a Del Sol with a full auto-x suspension and minor bolt-ons.

Re: What would your project car be?

1993-1997 Mazda Miata. If I had the money I would go with two mazda Miatas, a 2000 model and a 95.

The 2000 model would stay naturally aspirated with some of the basics
Ram air intake
Enlarged TB
RB header, RB or Goodwin racing roadster exhaust
Adjustable exhaust cam gear
Weisco forged 11:1 pistons
Titanium valve spring retainers
FM motor mount
Differential bushing
FM 13.5lb flywheel
Light weight 16" wheels and 225/45 tires
Racing beat springs
Jackson racing front and rear swaybars
KYB AGX shocks
Racing beat front strut tower, rear brace and seatbelt brace

The 95 would have (same suspension setup)
Flying Miata FM II Hydra turbo kit
Weisco forged 9:1 pistons
Carillo H-beam rods
1mm oversized intake and exhaust valves
adjustable cam gears
FM motor mount
8lb aluminum flywheel
ACT HD clutch
Differential bushing
Harddog ACE rollbar

In all likelihood (and if I am lucky) one of these days I will end up getting a 99+ Miata as a play toy and it will stay naturally aspirated.

^ Nice

I would do an Ep3 the 2004 SI hatch with an h22, Comptech supercharger.

If I fill half my tank with Shell V-Power gas and the other half with Chevron with Techron gas will I have V-TEC gas?

I'd LOVE to find and restore an old Mazda Cosmo.
