thinking about mac mini

so i've been pretty interested in one lately. for the price they seem like a decent machine. i've never owned a mac (other than my OOOLLLLDDD ass apple thing). i know my way around a pc better than the average person so this would be a scary move for me. i know virtually nothing about macs. is there anything i should know? is there access to things like illegal copies of CS3, etc..? anything i should know before i drop 600 bux on a new one?

Re: thinking about mac mini

Don't....Im not a big fan of the Mac Mini. Just because of its lack of upgrades. I have an older one and I never use it. If you want a mac get a real Mac not a mini. That's just my $.02.

Re: thinking about mac mini

Get a Macbook Pro, I got one, and I used to be a big PC guy. I'll never look back. It's the best system i've ever owned.

If not a macbook pro, then buy a macbook. You can always install windows on it if you don't like OSX (which you will)

Re: thinking about mac mini

I was a PC only user then switched to Macs last year with the debut of the macbooks, and the rest is history. If you are technologically minded you should really have no problem. I love my mac. I had been considering a mac mini for awhile as a stay at home computer. I love the fact that its so small and doesn't take up much room. But with the release of the 24" iMac i may have changed my mind a bit. Software is VERY easy to get...not that I would know though :smokin:

In all honesty, software is pretty easy to get if you know where to look. BIT TORRENTS ARE GOD!

Re: thinking about mac mini

i dont want a notebook. never have and prob never will as long as i have no need for one. i am very happy with having just a stationary computer. i used to build PCs and upgrade and all that what not but i really dont care anymore. all i use my computer for is some music, Photoshop, and basic internet/email. im not a phreak like i used to be. i just want something that loads shit fast etc. i dont know how mac speeds compare to PCs but i found a 1.42GHz mac mini for $350 it has 512mb memory. right now i have an AMD athalon (i think its like 2.5GHz and 1GB of ram). would this computer be as fast or faster?

Re: thinking about mac mini

1.42ghz? hmmm

In my case, my macbook was faster then my pc (i sold it soon after, lol)
PC = AMD athlon 2.2ghz 1gb Ram
1st Gen Macbook = Intel 2.0ghz 512mb Ram

Re: thinking about mac mini

Please do not ever buy a mac, you will only continue the possible rise of the anti-christ.

For whatever you want to do, you can do on a PC, faster, cheaper, and more effeciantly. Why spend the extra cash on any apple product?
