2005 Mazda3 vs. Hyundai Tiburon V6

Who do you think will win? My buddy just picked one of these up and he's been itching to race me. Both cars are manuals, I only have a K&N filter and sticky tires to his completely stock car.

I looked up some numbers and his 0-60 is the same as the 3, but his 1/4 time is a few ticks quicker. I'm thinking it'll come down to a good launch.

Anyone run one?

As much as I would love to say the Mazda 3. I think the tibby will get you. v6 man. I hate Tibby's but they can be quick (not fast) little cars.

But if you are a real good driver you might get him.

If I fill half my tank with Shell V-Power gas and the other half with Chevron with Techron gas will I have V-TEC gas?

I heard tibby's are fat and slow.. but since it's a manual you might lose..

yes, I hate to say it but they look nice. The interior is real nice. They are talking about a v8 RWD Tibby in the next couple years.

I'm a pretty good driver. I just need to figure out the best way to launch. I'm thinking rev to about 3k and slip the clutch a little to keep the wheel hop down to a minimum.

I again want to say that we discourage street racing on this forum. I hope if you guys plan on racing you can make sure it happens in a legal setting, ie: a track.

Tiburons V6 is overrated literally....atleast it was a few years ago when I last saw stock dynos for that car. Could be a good race. Put some cinderblocks in his trunk when he isnt watching

Re: 2005 Mazda3 vs. Hyundai Tiburon V6

i owned both for a couple years at the same time....people hate the tib because it's a hyundai...not because it's not a decent car....the tib was quicker off the line than the 3...but not by much
