Re: Busted by the redlight camera ...*PICS*
I got caught going through a turn last year. I thought I had a solid case when I saw the speed it claimed I was going.... 42 MPH! I'm an engineering student, and have had several semesters of Physics, so I thought I would see what kind of lateral G-force that implied. For that specific intersection, according to the red light camera, I pulled over 1 G going through the turn on what was back then a stock suspension. I did a written declaration to defend myself, included my equations and calculations and explained why the system wasn't working properly. My argument was that it's impossible for me to be going that fast, therefore if I can prove one part of the system to be malfunctioning, you can't say without a doubt that the rest of it is 100% accurate. I focused on the yellow light timing, saying it was probably too short, and if it was working properly I wouldn't have run the light. Either way, with a flaw as big as that, I thought the case should have been thrown out. They found me guilty after the written declaration. Perhaps they don't believe in the laws of Physics that govern the world. I contested it in court with another approach, assuming the judge and prosecution to be too dumb in the math and physics departments to understand what I'm talking about, and they found me guilty again. Assholes.
Should I post my pics?
