Bummer two helicopter crashed today right near work

Yup about a mile away to news helicopters crashed in mid air. I feel for those families. No one survived. Anyone else hear about this?

What stinks is they were taping a high speed chase on the freeway and this happened.

"The man fleeing from police was later taken into custody. Police Chief Jack Harris suggested he could be charged in connection with the collision."

that's pretty messed up.

Re: Bummer two helicopter crashed today right near work

Heard it on the radio today.

I don't think the driver can be held criminally responsible for the deaths of those in the helicopters but the families can of course sue him. I honestly doubt he's worth anything though.

While it is sad that these journalists died today, maybe some news organizations will use this as a moment to reflect on their own standards of coverage. One article said 5 news helicopters were covering this single chase and carjacking. That literally seems like overkill.

It is very sad. I mean to think you are going to work and then not even come home. Very sad day in Phoenix.

Re: Bummer two helicopter crashed today right near work

I saw this too on the morning news today. It does suck. There's been major f'ups in the air lately. There have been reports about air traffic controlling being really bad lately. The people are getting overworked/tired and they are making mess-ups. I'm not so sure air traffic control would be taking care of these 2 helicopters in the air, but I heard on the news that those two helicopters should have been talking back and forth assigning each other a different altitude. I understand that they are opposing news channels and trying to get the best shots, but heck, if its going to lead to something like this....
