Death predicting cat

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/07/25/dea....ap/index.html

Quote:
PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island (AP) -- Oscar the cat seems to have an uncanny knack for predicting when nursing home patients are going to die, by curling up next to them during their final hours.

Oscar the cat doesn't like to be put out in the hall when a patient is dying.

His accuracy, observed in 25 cases, has led the staff to call family members once he has chosen someone. It usually means the patient has less than four hours to live.

Wow... My cat can usually predict bad weather, but death?

Re: Death predicting cat

Interesting and yet scary stuff. It doesn't like being put out in the hall means the cat likes to be in there comforting the person? Or maybe it's a sick and twisted cat that likes to be around when death happens.. we'll never know.

Makes you wonder how it knows though.

Re: Death predicting cat

My cat can predict when I am going to pay attention to her.

She walks up to me and shoves herself under my hand or sticks her face in mine. Lo' and behold I pay attention to her.

Its almost erie how accurate she is (my cat does play fetch with rings and toy mice. You throw it for her and she will bring it back and drop it at your feet. She also comes when you call...well, 70% of the time she will).

Yeah that is interesting. It would freak me out if I was visiting someone there and the cat started paying attention to me.

Re: Death predicting cat

My cat knows when I'm going to bed. Everyday, as soon as my head hits the pillows. Bam, shes at my bedside.

I better not die because of my cat.

Re: Death predicting cat

sometimes i have to poke my cat with a stick to make sure he's still kicking... he's going on 14 years old now and he's morbidly obese.
