Anxiety/Panic attacks

Ok guys kick me in the balls for this one. I will let my weakness be exposed. For the past year I have suffered from severe anxiety and panic attack. These came on during a pretty stressful period in my life and now I can't seem to shake them. Anyone else had this problem?

If so what did you do to fix the problem?

If I fill half my tank with Shell V-Power gas and the other half with Chevron with Techron gas will I have V-TEC gas?

Re: Anxiety/Panic attacks

I am on Paxil CR for anxiety attacks... I started taking it about last April I guess... I worked at a resort/hotel & had to deal with a-hole guests who would throw stuff & cuss me out if everything wasn't perfect I remember the worst anxiety attack I had, I felt like I couldn't breathe & my heart started racing... it was really scary. My job now is a LOT less stressful so I could probably don't even need it anymore.

Re: Anxiety/Panic attacks

I had a panic attack when I was going through my divorce. They gave me some meds to take. The meds they gave me were making me sick so i stopped. I sucked it up and drove on. I think meds should be the last option but doctor give them out like candy.

Re: Anxiety/Panic attacks

what other options are there? I guess in a way anxiety is psychological but there's not much you can do...

Re: Anxiety/Panic attacks

Yea meds suck, My anxiety is so raw that I deal with it everyday. With everything I do I have no idea how it got this way. Believe me I feel like I lost half my balls, right now I could care less I just want to get over this crap. My doc said it could also be a chemical imbalance.

We shall see. I will get through this it is just going to take a ton of work.

Re: Anxiety/Panic attacks

suprisingly I am actually educated in this area

I am in grad school at UM working on my masters and phd in psychology. i suffered (and still have mild anxiety) from severe anxiety and panic disorder in middle school. there are ALOT of options in regard to the topic that require no meds. the true best method is to holistically approach it which does include behavioral modification, medicine, as well as other therapeutic approaces. if you ever want to talk or need some help (its not professional advice as I am still in grad school doing my practicum and internship seeing clients under supervision) feel free to contact me and we can talk privately.

Re: Anxiety/Panic attacks

Thanks for the info bro, As much as I use to think it would embarrass me It doesn't. I could care less what people think about me. As long as I can maintain a professional stance at work and be a man for my fam I am good.

Thanks for the advice man, yea that I what I am doing. I have a more severe cause that was caused by some chemical imbalance and a ton, I mean a ton of stress. I am getting better now but still not 100%.

Figured I would start the thread for peeps that have it, cause I know how hard it can be at times.

Re: Anxiety/Panic attacks

Anxiety and panic attacks are completely debilitating. They SUCK. But practice and good understanding of behavioral modification can vastly improve the quality of life for the inflicted individual.

In layman terms don't fear the fear. All the pains, breathing problems, chest pain, blurred vision. They are all our bodies reaction to fear, it can become a vicious cycle if we let it. I am working on changing my belief system that nothing is wrong with me that it is just anxiety and that it can't harm me and it seems to be helping. Another big thing is distraction, distraction is key.

Anxiety/Panic attacks I think are the largest mental disorder (i hate this word) worldwide.
