Re: texas hold'em

I'm on PokerStars almost every day. I used to play live but it's kind of tough when you work 40hrs.
I have won some nice cash in the last couple of weeks. In two tourneys I won around 1500.
For the cash games online i sit at the .25/.10 table for about two hours a night. I start off with $15
and usually end the night with around 35 to 40. I also hit the 5 dollar sit and go's.

Re: texas hold'em

I used to play with friends a lot on the weekends during H.S. Then I played online at Paradise for a long time. Won about $130 in a torney before. Did alright. Went to Vegas earlier this year for work and played at the hotel in $60 buy ins. Came close to money once. I was damn nervous playing for the first time in Vegas in person - the real deal.

Re: texas hold'em

I play a few small local tourneys, and I'm usually "a few" places out of the money. As for Cash games, I find that you need a different mindset, one which I have not mastered yet. When I do play a cash table, I lose.
I was in Vegas in November, and I played in a few tourneys at the Imperial Palace. I didn't find them intimidating, and I actually did pretty good.

Online, I've played some, and I can win slowly and steadily. I mostly play the very low limit tables, and you find a lot of total morons on there. People who just don't know what they are doing. Myself, I think I'd prefer to play against better skilled players, even if it means I'm not winning as much.

Re: texas hold'em

I gotta say, I kinda liked poker more before ESPN/TV in general started carrying games (whichare all, of course, texas hold'em) in like 2001 or whatever it was. While I enjoy hold 'em, ever since that happened, all anyone plays is that. Before that, we used to play a lot of dealer calls games (meaning the game is the dealers choice).

Nice set up. Our table is nice but not that nice. We are actually playing tonight. I can't wait.
Last Friday I had a tough time.
I had a couple of bad beats and some hands that were good but never the best. Example. Flopped two pair in the big blind. First caller flopped a higher two pair. Flopped a straight another guy flopped a flush. I had pocket kings, friend had pocket Aces. OUCH!
