Who's Ready - - for a Bankrupt America?

I love the title of the article below being possed as a question...as if people need to come around to the idea

As if this is a new thing, as if this is something to somehow contemplate or mull over. The fact of the matter is that there isn't a single well educated person in this or any other country that can articulately argue against the fact that this country WILL be in serious financial trouble...soon. The only question that can be raised at this point is when. 20 years if we are lucky?

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/...n2528226.shtml

If there is one issue that you should care about...make it this one. There isn't a politician alive that is willing to touch this issue...unless it actually BECOMES an issue - and we all know how the system works.

Make the fiscal fidelity of our country the new environmental movement, it will impact your life and the lives of your children in far greater ways than you can imagine.

/End Rant

And how do you eliminate debt...

1) Pay the principle to zero
2) Default and declare

Neither is an option.

"Kicking the can down the road" as the article puts it, is what lead to the Civil War. I agree with Walker, we need to fix this thing and fix it now.

Yep. Incremental change that is proven in test beds and then rolled out...only way to do it.

The amount is too high...not an option. We'd not only NEVER be able to borrow again (even worse than being trillions in the hole IMO) but we'd also take down others with us. It would be a nasty landslide of events.
