Any other ferret owners?

My gf and I just adopted this cute little critter named Angel this morning--she's 2 years old, loves raisins, and is extremely playful!

A fellow forum member (mndsm) from my area actually turned me on to the idea of a pet ferret--we want a puppy eventually, but decided to start with something small that can live in a cage when we're not home. Just curious if anyone else in here owns/has owned ferrets?

Re: Any other ferret owners?

I want one, real bad.  Next time I go to havasu or find a person in the know out here I will get one for sure.  My friend had 2, jack and jill.  Crazy fuckers lol loved to bite socks.

Some people consider it cruel, but if you get a dog you can have it crate trained, they actually end up loving to sleep\be in the crate. Obviously it would have to be a bigger cage\kennel than most people have room for, but its an option if you have a moderate size yard.

We had three when I was growing up... Spike, Nicky, and Rick. Spike went bald, Nicky died because of a faulty spay, and Rick lived practically for ever! He was practically a puppy in my family... he would play fetch, follow me around the house, all that. They were all great fun!

Re: Any other ferret owners?

I always wanted a ferret, but my mom wouldn't get me one stating that they tore shit up and were like crazy insane animals <shrug>
I wanted em ever since I saw the two ferrets in BeastMaster.

Crazy... sometimes. They never tore shit up in my place though ... just guilty of stealing things (like from chicks' purses if they didn't close it all up) and sometimes would poo in a corner when they were out of the cages. Other than that they were super friendly and did no wrong.

The word "ferret" is derived from a latin word for "thief". Quite fitting, from my experience!

I know a guy whose ferret is constantly trying to steal the hair dryer out of his bathroom
