Went fishin, caught a damn beast!!!

Brownie points if you know what kind of fish it is. Weight = 15-20 pounds easy. Had human like teeth, and caught it on a hot dog lol. Local small pond, that is fed by natural hot springs in murrieta. Took forever to get it in, using 6 pound test and light\med action gear. . .

Holy crap dude! Is that a state record? It's hard to say because it's such a dark fish and the markings are vauge, but I'm guessing Stumpknocker?

New Guess .... Green sunfish.

Definitely looks like a large sunfish. Then again, it's quite darker then most i've ever seen.

Re: Went fishin, caught a damn beast!!!

I wish I had taken pictures of its teeth, sketchy looking, definately would have taken my thumb off. I guess I was lucky it bit through the line before I could grab it by the lip (bass style lol) which is why you see me holding it in the water like that, shortly after that the hook broke, which is insane because its a 4 pack of hooks that cost 7 bucks, so not your cheapie wal mart hooks. Im betting that the fish had bit the hook a few times and when I tried to plier it, it broke on the weak spot

I had heard stories about a "pirana" being in that pond about 10 years ago when I used to fish it all the time, so its at least that old. Crazy.

This pond has HUGE fish in it, 15+ pound channel cats, 10+ pound bass, and mutant fish lol

My brother pulled this bass out of there this spring

Re: Went fishin, caught a damn beast!!!

googled sunfish: the seem to have larger doresel fins uptop, even the different color ones have the

googled pacu: same shape

Interestingly enough, the human-like teeth :

I call defintely a pacu. I WIN!

Looks like someone dumped their unwanted pet out in the water and he is growing!

Re: Went fishin, caught a damn beast!!!

Wikipedia says:
Quote:
Various species of pacu are increasingly being used for warm-water farm fishing around the world.[10] Pacu are considered ideal for their tolerance of the low-oxygen water in farm ponds. They also don't require a lot of expensive protein in their diet, and can be raised year-round in warm or temperature-controlled environments
you got a pacu stocked pond?
