NBCs "Friday Night Lights" thread

Does anyone else watch "Friday Night Lights" on NBC?
I have been TIVOing it all season and it is a pretty damn good show. Unlike alot of other shows about highschool, these kids are actually believable and don't look like they are 30.
The games awesome, the story keeps me hooked, and it's just a feel good show.

What do you all think about it?

Re: NBCs "Friday Night Lights" thread

the show is actually filmed at my high schools rival team, pflugerville. I personally get depressed when i watch it. Those 4 years were the best years of my life, and anyone who has played football probably feels the same way. The only thing that bothers me about the show is they werent very creative. All they did was change the names of towns. All the uniforms and other teams were actual teams I played against.

Really?! I think thats pretty damn cool that they use real names. Makes the show more believable for one, plus if i lived in one of those towns I would think it's pretty cool.
Highschool was fun, but I don't really miss it. Then again I only played football 2 years in Highschool and all 4 years my high schools sucked. Highschool football is alot different down south though, more like a lifestyle than just a game.
I think the show does bring back a little nostalgia about highschool though. I wish my highschool years would have been a little more like the show actually.

This weeks episode was good though. Good cinamotagraphy for the football game with all of the rain.

Especially for kids playing high school football in southern US... They're treated like superstars in their towns for 4 years, then after that they realize what the world is really like...

I really enjoy this show. It'll be interesting to see how they keep it going next season. Kind of looks like they'll be following the coach to Austin where he pursues his University coaching career.

I think he will end up staying because the kids are the show, not just the coach.
I also think that they will lose the championship which will give the team something to strive for next season.

Thats a freaking myth. Sure football is huge here, but we are not treated any better than others. we may get a good luck here and there, but nothing like they portray in the movies...

Kyasa: Its not really the game i miss, its more of the brotherhood i developed with my teammates that i miss. Sure practices sucked ass, but nothing like friday night with 5,000 people in the stands.

Re: NBCs "Friday Night Lights" thread

I kinda know what your saying...
Friday nights were awesome but we only had about 500 people in the stands
I can only imagine what it felt like to run onto the field under the lights with 5000 fans cheering.

It may not be as glorified as the movies make it seem but I am sure the Friday night game is alot more important where you come from for the town as a whole than where I came from. Then again, we always sucked and 90% of the town were Mexican and would rather play soccer rather than watch football. Which was nearly always the case. There were almost as many people playing soccer next to the stadium than there were people watching the football game.

Re: NBCs "Friday Night Lights" thread

here is an idea about how big it is here. two years ago they finished a new high school stadium that held 13,000 people. we called it the parmer palace. I played in the opening game and it was undescribable.
