Traveling to Dominican.....

Hey all, planning a trip for me and the girlfriend to Dominican for the end of april.

I was hoping that a few people who have been before would be so kind as to fill me in on what resort they stayed at and what they thought of it, good or bad.

Or any other info that may be important in helping to make a decision, thanks !!

Oh yeah....I was looking at Puerto Plata, thanks again !!!

Jono

Re: Traveling to Dominican.....

I went a couple years ago and stayed at the Iberostar Costa Dorada in Puerto Plata. It was a direct flight from Boston. I enjoyed the resort - it is currently rated 5 stars on TNT vacations website. I didn't feel it quite lived up to its rating though - maybe I expected too much. For one thing, I recall the a/c working like crap and was told it was normal. Sorry, I don't consider a 78-80 degree room to be comfortably cooled. The food was pretty good and it was all-inclusive so local drinks were included too.

One thing I enjoyed about the trip was a tour of the local rum factory (Brugal?). We picked up a few bottles real cheap.

I think so too, but we went in March and the daytime temp was easily in the high 80's if not more. After cooking all day, you don't exactly want to bake in your bed. I'm one of those people who puts out heat and prefers it cool to sleep.

Re: Traveling to Dominican.....

Ummm true. I generally like it cooler then my wife. She doesn't mind if it is 80 in the house in the summer time, but I like it a bit cooler. In the winter time I am happy with 65 but she will slit my throat and dance on my corpse if I set the temp below 68 (unless we are sleeping because we have thick blankets, then she will let me set it at 65)...digital thermostats are our friends.

There are times I like it a lot colder, like when I was just working up a sweat outside or something.
