Racing Stories Speed3 Vs Who ever!

Thought this would be a very interesting topic. And after last night I wanted to tell someone. I was cursing back from LA to San Diego when I saw some car flying up behind me. I gunned it but they had way too much momentum. And flew past me. It was a white Supra. Sweet I thought! So we messed around a little but it was never really fair. Until there was a huge open streach on both our lanes, we pulled up nose to nose and then both floored it litterly. I had already downshifted into 5th and we were both going about 80 when we started. I hit 6,000 RPM's shifted and floored it again. We got all the way up to 133 (GPS record) and then I stopped, my girlfriend was in the car sleeping and didn't even wake up!! She added a little weight so that might have affected things. Thats how smooth the speed 3 is.l Anyway, no one won, we were just nose to nose the whole entire way. After he gave me the thumbs up and seemed very impressed by the performance. I want to hear other people stories. What kinds of cars you've gone up against, results, etc... I Mustang Mach 1 killed me, has anyone else come across one? I'm not sure if it had any mods, but when we went I felt like I was driving a mini van.

Street racing threads are tolerated, but only in the Lounge. Hence, the move.

Had a litttle fun friday night. Met up with one of my friends and his buddies (they all drive VW). We decided to play around on some service roads. He drives a 06 VW GTI with a CAI, exhaust, and an ECU flash. We did a rolling start at 30 MPH and went at it hard. He kept up with me the entire time...well until I hit 4th gear. As soon as I punched her into 4th the speed rocketed away from him. None of his friends would believe my car was stock.

Street racing is stupid and I hope that whoever does it wrecks the car, they deserve it...

Even when it's in an isolated location where only the 2 racing cars are at risk?
Just because it's street racing, doesn't mean it has to be stupid and dangerous.
You could easily go to an empty strip of road, or an abandoned airport and race there. It'd be just like going to the track but without the time sheet.
Is that not agreeable?

Anyway, on to the discussion at hand.
Me vs RX-8 = Me.
Me vs GTI = Me.
Me vs Supercharged BMW Z Coupe: BMW
Me vs 02 monte carlo SS: Me
Me vs Camaro SS: SS

Funny story with the BMW though.
it was right before a junction and there was also a new mustang GT involved. The mustang was trying to show off and was gunning it and jumping ahead when there was traffic. Anyway, he gunned it and had to slow down quickly as he got behind a black Ford explorer with tinted windows. Right as he did that, the Explorer flashed his lights and they went off on the right side of the junction as the Z and I went to the right. Mustang: -1 haha.

Re: Racing Stories Speed3 Vs Who ever!

I raced myself down an empty residential street where the limit is 15, and you know what I WON.

I think street racing has its appropriate times and places. Only you know if the time was appropriate as noone else here can see all the variables that you did. Yeah people will say street racing kills, but for all you know i live on a street that is 4 lanes wide, has dirt banks on both sides and no cross streets for 5 miles. Oh yeah and no utilites are even remotely close to this street, so no manhole covers for squirrels to pop out of or power lines for PGE to be working on. Just dont be dumb and race on a even mildly populated city street, unless of course youre challenging that POPO next to you, to a race.

Re: Racing Stories Speed3 Vs Who ever!

I played around with a few cars on a 'closed course' once or twice. One was a modded mustang GT 5.0 with which I was neck and neck for while even with my very crappy, nooblike shifting (we both quit rather quickly so it was more like a draw). Another was a BMW x5 4.4i which I took rather easily. The guy was surprised and gave me the thumbs up which I thought was pretty cool. Some woman in a moron-o was messing around with me one night on another 'closed course'. She quickly learned what the back of a speed3 looked like. That's pretty much it for me other than the occasional spirited drive.

Mods so far: Cobb SRI, TWM shifter base bushings

Re: Racing Stories Speed3 Vs Who ever!

I had an newer audi 2.0t try and race me from a stop on this awesome highway that has a couple of lights on a 65mph limit road. I forgot to turn my dsc off and couldn't of had a worse start but by the end of second I had already pulled a car length on him and forget it about once I hit third. I just let up after that because it wasn't competitive and I didn't want to go way over the limit. I never saw his face, but I can imagine it.
