Top speed run

I went out tonight with my friends M3 to test the power of the ms3, I have to admit I'm rather shocked.

This thing is alot meaner than I thought. I wish the gearing was better 1-4 and a little longer but the highway top end is really it's forte.

First things first, I really have to say it feels smoother the faster you go, I looked down and couldn't believe the 100+ speeds felt so smooth, wind noise was much lower than I expected. Handled great.

5th gear winded out quick so I popped it in 6th, my old car this was overdrive so it pretty much died then, not in this car. I went from 90-140+ in a matter of seconds, the thing just pulls all the way to redline. 6th gear is very versatile.

I hit 149 before I felt a little wind gust come up and kinda move it a little, I'm headed out tomarrow night though to see if we have that "155" limiter, I'll use my gps to verify I think I was around 5700rpms at 149 so 155 seems doable

*I don't condone going that fast if you can't handle it, its very stupid etc etc.. I'm not responsible if you get maimed etc etc..*

Oh and the M3 couldn't keep up at all :P

You have got to be shitting me.
A friend and I went out to test it too, but with my winter tires on
We used the stretch of route 70 EAST near Baltimore between 695 and the eastern end of I-70

Where did you take it up?
I fired her up to 144 approx and RPMS where closer to 6000 I think

That wind noise is something at 140mph...

Re: Top speed run

I took her down RT50 west towards DC. It's 25mi of flat straight fun. I really didn't notice much noise, radio was about 5, I was paying more attention to the road though lol

I kept my radio off so I could concentrate on the high speeds and the noise just for that.
Trubo, lemme know a bit more about yourself, your car, how you got it... share something. Since you and I live close by, have the same car and apparently the same options we could get together one day.
Age? Married? etc etc etc..
Thanks!

Re: Top speed run

He may mean M3 as in German. If it was an E36 or earlier, I have every reason to believe this car would kill it. The newer ones on the other hand........
