Re: What Movie REALLY Scares you???????

it is sad that hollywood has resorted to the same old tactics for films these days.

most of the "scare" tactics involve loud shrieking noises after a period of silence to make you jump. the old surprise routine. i hate it and it isn't worth watching the film. see: the grudge, the ring and any of the multiple "horror" movies that have come out in the last ten years.

the big three for scariest movies of all time are definitely:

1. the original halloween
2. psycho
3. the original texas chainsaw massacre

there's a fine line to be drawn between foolishly gory and actually terrifying. i like genuinely disturbing subject matter, so i'd probably include "seven" on my list as well. "high tension" was also good, and "hostel" was creepy as hell once it stopped being american pie.

there are more than a few that i enjoy though.

Re: What Movie REALLY Scares you???????

Signs is the only movie that really scared me.

the new version of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Hostel litterally made me sick to my stomach. TCM is still one of my favorites though.

i knew i was in for a ride the moment the first guy stepped through the kitchen door, got hit on the head with a mallet and started twitching. after he got dragged through the door and it was slammed shut...

Re: What Movie REALLY Scares you???????

Actually, The Sixth Sense is the only movie that has scared me in a long time. I'm with biped, I hate when a movie goes for cheap "scares" by having some boogeyman jump out and go BOO. Are you relly scared or did you just have a natural body reflex to that action? Its not scary...its just cheap.

For some reason that stupid movie makes my skin crawl. I definitely prefer being creeped out to being "scared"

see, everyone talks about how scary the 6th sense was and I didn't think it was at all... in fact I had it figured out before the ending 8)
