got pulled over last night

yep, I got pulled over last night. I was out of cigarettes and was going to the local walgreens to get some. I was going about 60, the spped limit was 50. A cop was coming the other way and as soon as he passed me he made a u right in the street.

I pulled to walgreens and he followed and turned his lights on. I had a driving instructor who was a cop too, when I got my CDL so he told me some tricks. Basically, keep your hands on the wheel and dont get your wallet out or go in the glovebox for the insurance until told to do so. So thats what I did, I told him where I was reaching when going for my wallet and insurance and kept my hands on the wheel.

After 10 minutes of waiting he comes back and gives me a warning. It seems like those tricks helped. Im sure some of you know how to act when pulled over, I havent gotten a ticket in years so I dont get a lot of practice. This is just a little tip for those who dont know what to do.

BTW, my turbo had nothing to do with this. I was in the wifes cavalier.

Re: got pulled over last night

hmm, thats some good advice.

guess cops feel real edgy pulling over someone they dont know and the person is putting their hands everywhere.

what the hell? if you're that afraid of being shot by the cops i suggest moving. i could be smoking a cig and rocking air drums and the pig wouldn't care as long as i gave him my license and registration.

Re: got pulled over last night

Funny story about that. A friend of mine was driving his 335i and got pulled in one of those random license checks. He has a concealed carry permit, so when the cop came up he told him that and that he had two firearms in the car. The officer asked for his permit, and to show him the weapons. The little 25 was in the glove compartment, but the cop was blown away when he saw where the glock was.

The 335 (and probably more BMW's) has a little removable panel behind the fold down armrest in the back seat that has an expandable ski bag in it. We took the panel (about 12"H x 7"W x 2"D) and removed the ski bag from inside, inserted a bunch of foam, and then cut that to fit the gun and the magazines. So you can fold down the armrest, and then click a little button on the panel to open the cover, and BLAM! custom handgun storage where you'd never think to look for it. The cop was so impressed that he asked him to do the same thing for his wife's BMW (which he apparently uses a lot)

Re: got pulled over last night

It's the worst when they pull a U-Turn and head in your direction. Hell, my last ticket was that exact case: I was heading back from Jacksonville, admittedly going faster then I should, when he turned around. I thought to myself 'self, better slow down' but apparently it was to no avail. Ended up missing a chem test

Technically, it's 8, and you can fight it, claiming a faulty speedometer (some have an error range of ~8mph)

Re: got pulled over last night

oh I see... I've driven past tons of cops in NJ on the Parkway with my cruise set at 75... the only times I got pulled over were when I did 20+ over the limit... =)
