I got a reckless driving ticket...help needed

Hi guys, this will be my first post here. I've been reading up on this site alot and just never wanted to contribute to the board, but here goes. Before you judge, know that this incident alone doesn't show what kind of person I am. I was very ticked off yesterday and made a really bad mistake.

If you want all the details I can PM but I just basically have a question. I recently picked up a speeding ticket for reckless driving last night. The cop said that they usuually take drivers to jail for this but since I was in the military he would let me go, but I needed to sign on the ticket saying that I will appear in court. I am living in Virginia and I'm wondering how it's going to work out. I already have 2 or so speeding tickets in my record. I'm just worried that this incident will get my liscense suspended. Question is.. will I be able to clear this incident by requesting to attend traffic school? Do they allow you to clear your points for a reckless driving ticket? Also, I plan on hiring an attorney, because if all else fails, at least he can try to lower the punishment that will be imposed on me. If anyone has any knowledge on how the law works around this area or about how to settle or lower a reckless driving case, please share that. Once again, I feel very bad for my stupid action and I am pretty damn sure I'm not going to be speeding for a long time.

You need more details before anyone can help you.

You said you have had two tickets before? Well did you get points? How many? DETAILS

That's pretty bad if they take people to jail for reckless driving. All we get in NJ is two points and a $133 fine.

Yes I got points for my previous two speeding tickets
According to the DMV Virginia website, it says I need to have 12 points within 12 months in order to have my liscense suspended. I haven't gotten any tickets in the last 12 months, so this is the first one in 12 months. A reckless driving is 6 points towards your records, and I'm wondering if taking traffic school will lower or prevent the points from showing up in my DMV records.

Re: I got a reckless driving ticket...help needed

Well, from what I know about traffic school it only removes two points. If I had six points coming on all at once I would talk to a lawyer. I have six points total right know and that sucks but if your are showing two tickets with a possible two points each that will be ten, real close to taking a cab. We all f-up no matter what some people say, I got ticketed for passing on a residental street in the turn lane under a traffic light cause I had just got off the phone with a girl and she had pissed me off. I wish you the best.

If you look for the bad in people expecting to find it, you surely will.

Thanks man. I plan on getting a lawyer to help me lower the fine. I just finished filling out a form describing what happened and I should get contacted by one around my area in a couple days,

Definitely get a lawyer. They can help you way more than we can.

No I was going 395 N just 200 meters from the columbia pike exit. And my 3 is silver, not red. There were two other cars on the other lane that got pulled over probably for speeding also. ALOT of cops last night. I was really surprised. Now I know not to speed in Arlington county -_-
