Anyone Good at Physics?

Usually it's not a problem for me, but I'm distracted, and it's pissing me off. Here's the question:

a) A stone is thrown vertically upward at a speed of 47.60 m/s at time t=0. A second stone is thrown upward with the same speed 2.440 seconds later. At what time are the two stones at the same height?

b) At what height do the two stones pass each other?

c) What is the upward speed of the second stone as they pass each other?

It says to use the formula y = V + VoT + at^2, and for the second bit, use y = V + Vo(T-To) + 1/2a(T-To)^2.

Any ideas, suggestions? It's due at midnight, but I was hoping to get it done before 9 so I can watch 24, then study calculus for a quiz tomorrow until I go to bed.

Thanks,
Kyle

Re: Anyone Good at Physics?

a) Solve 47.6*T-1/2*9.81*T^2=47.6*(T-2.44)-1/2*9.81*(T-2.44)^2 for t
b) plug answer of a into 47.6*T+1/2*9.81*T^2=y
c) plug answer from a into V=47.6-9.81*(T-2.44)

i used to hate these ones...

my favorite was the, drop a stone into a well, if it takes 6 seconds to hear it hit the bottom how deep is the hole.

or elevator problems. oof. i hate those.

Re: Anyone Good at Physics?

PM me with your email and I'll send you a mathcad sheet with the work and a pretty graph if you need it. Get the answers first so I'm not giving it to you.

Re: Anyone Good at Physics?

It's asking for help. Hell, the program it's on has a forum section, where you can post up your questions and people can help. Except the people posting are idiots, lol

PM me your email address and I'll email you a pdf.

Edit. It's now sent. If you have mathcad, I can email you the original too.
