Profession.... Network+ Server+ Anyone work in the field?

Just wondering if anyone was in the field who might be able to talk computer with me a little, fill me in on key points, and main information i should pick up on quick. Maybe if i hear a little along with my current reading i can get more comfortable with the topic. Since a interview is going to happend in the next couple weeks, its a short time and kind of looking for any help..... Someone might want to contribute.

Im not a total moron with computers, mostly A+ is the skill level, and have built a few computers, and made a network at home if you call 2 computers and a laptop a network.

This is the story if you have time/care to read:

Here is the deal, i need to make a change(career), and computers/finance has always been my favorites.

I own a business and want to keep it rolling but i still beleive in work because my business on a graph is kind of up and down, it flattens out and take drops, but i want it as a side job, untill it expands to a point where i dont need to work.

~Story
So i am a driver for a company, i drive a chevy express van, do some heavy lifting in the morning, and mostly just deliver the product to customers all day. I honestly dont make shit there, and really have no where to go within the company to make any more money.

I have boughten books in the past ( A+, Network, MSCA, MSCE ) read a little, shit hits the fan you loose focus... books go under the bed, I always try to think about what i want to do but never really take action.

~Current objective
So my uncle calls me (used to work at MS but quit to work for Comcast -yes someone quit MS for a better job)
We talked on the holidays about my job, and how i hate it, and he said he will look around within the company
Back to him calling me....
He mentions the company building a couple NOC teams ( network operations teams) and they are actually haveing a hard time filling in the positions and have lowered the level to get people in.. He is like "matt, even though you dont really know anything about networking you can maybe get you foot in this way and learn by watching, i will tell you most of the guys have certificates or have been to school for similar training"

He mentioned stuff like "netstat" "TCPIP" "SSL" "OSI" and "handshake" (which i have read into some of these things with a book i have and wikipedia)

It was a very fast conversation and he said he will contact me on monday with more details and try to set up a coffee meeting to give me a crash course on networking and things i have to know for the job.

I just want to make this work, i will double my pay rate and finally get a job i can pursue a career in. And move on with my life... ( get own house )

Thanks much for any help

NORMALLY, I don't like offering advice about this kind of stuff. Just overall lazy. But you seem to be willing to learn and so forth. I will be sending you a pm with my thoughts, and advice in a few moments. feel free to read it, and either post here, or reply to me via pm.
