Any time is prime time

Now there's always something good on TV. With Apple TV, you can enjoy movies, TV shows, music, and podcasts in your iTunes library, plus photos and movie trailers, on your widescreen TV wirelessly, from your Mac or PC.

Download

Ready to be entertained? Any time day or night, simply download what you want to watch or listen to from among millions of choices on the iTunes Store. Then let Apple TV do the rest.

Sync

Apple TV automatically grabs the digital media on your computer and makes it available for you to enjoy on your TV. Best of all, whenever you add something new in iTunes, Apple TV updates automatically.

Watch

Thanks to the intuitive interface, finding what you want to watch is as easy as navigating a few simple menu items using the included Apple Remote. Just a few clicks and you'll be enjoying all your favorites from the comfort of your couch.

I was kind of interested in it until I took a look at the website. They REALLY make it sound like unless your TV is at least 480p capable that you're boned. My non-widescreen SDTV and I will be sticking with the moded xbox.

Well yeah, any digital technology is kinda pointless w/o an HDTV (or at least an EDTV (480p)).

That being said, it still has some really cool features.

That I don't agree with. My wife and I honestly don't care that much about HDTV picture quality, which is why we haven't replaced our TV. What we do care about is ease of use. If the AppleTV had allowed us to transfer or stream downloaded videos to the TV simply and effectively we might have bought one.

My wife loves the Airport Express we have setup because it's easy to use and it works well. She knows our Xbox has the ability to play videos on the TV but she's not comfortable FTPing into it, clearing off whatever's there, copying over the new files, etc.

Digital video isn't entirely about quality. A big portion of it is portability.

Not without an HDTV it doesn't. The website seems to say that it requires a widescreen TV that can do 480p.

What I'm saying is that we probably would have bought one had it worked with our non-HDTV just for the streaming features, but since it doesn't seem like it will work with our TV there's no chance we'll pick one up.
