I want a stick shift.

I made a mistake when getting my new 3. At the time, I was a new driver and I was scared to drive a stick. I wasn't sure if I wanted to learn, so I just got a AT and settled. I have since begun learning to drive a manual, and now I want one. So here's my delima..

Should I
A) Suck it up and keep my car
or
B) Get a new car..

My current car is completely paid off.

If I do decide to get a new car, there are a few available I'm looking at. I was wondering if you all would share you're opinions.

- 03 RSX Type-S
- Another 3, although I can only find the i versions for sale used, or hatches... I want an S sedan. I could possibly get one new.
- A miata... Although I like the older ones, and have yet to find one I really like.
- An S2000..
- A mini cooper
- Maybe a tC.

The RSX so far looks like my most affordable option, but insurance worries me.. I test drove an S2000 today, but with 30k more miles on it than my current car.. Honda or not, I don't think it'd be worth it.

The miata and S2000 seem like unlikely options..
I've spotted a tC I could probably get, but it's Silver and I'm not completely keen on that color.

 I keep thinking I'd be stupid to trade in my car, but I can't stop wishing I had a manual..

If it's paid off, my vote is to trade it in and get a stick 3. Get one new, I'm sure you could score a good deal on 'em since now is a slow time for sales.

Re: I want a stick shift.

I've recently been considering that option.

Another thing I would kind of prefer is a two door car though. Notice all the others are two doors? lol

That's the one and only thing I don't entirely like about my car.. other than it being AT

Well, consider functionality: what would you use the car for? Packing people, or other stuff, or just taking you and a date out?

Re: I want a stick shift.

I actually don't like being the friend who everyone packs themselves and their friends into the car. It gets annoying to be intentionally picked to be the driver to and from...everywhere. I do think I want a backseat still, though. Which would rule out the roadsters.

Usually, it's just my boyfriend and I. And the more space I'm given, the more junk I'll put in one place. I don't really need the space or convenience of a four door car... I guess I don't mind it, it's just not necessary or desired.

Sounds like the RSX or the Mini is coming more and more into play for ya. I have to say, though, if you get either, get the type S's.

Re: I want a stick shift.

There's a type-s that just came up for sale at a local dealership. The bf's mom works at it's sister dealership, too.. so she'd make sure it'd be a good deal and all that.

I'm just scared of the insurance. However, it'd be the lowest car payment as I would also owe the least..

It's an 03, with only 10k more miles than my current car.

Re: I want a stick shift.

Yeah, the whole 2-door deal on insurance can most certainly be a bitch. See if you can get a quote on it, and go from there. What insurance do you have, if you don't mind me asking? Maybe you can search it online to get an estimate?

Re: I want a stick shift.

Not only that, I heard RSX insurance is crazy on it's own...

I guess it's commonly stolen?

I have state farm, although I wouldn't mind switching. I want good insurance tho. Not e-Surance. (I shouldn't bad mouth it, I know nothing about the company..)

Re: I want a stick shift.

It probably is (stolen) a lot.

What about the Mini? I dunno how they run price-wise, have you looked around at 'em?
