sci fi needed here

Hey guys, I admit, im a huge sci fi junkie. Ive nearly run out of options with familiar material being Battlestar galactica, stargate atlantis and firefly, so i need some new material. I kinda started stargate sg-1, but i wasnt hugely interested yet, and i completely dont like star trek... what can you guys recommend to me sci-fi-wise? I saw part of Andromeda on sci fi channel the other day and that looked intruiging, but im not sure yet. Also intruiged by Babylon5... looks good but ive never seen an episode and i need opinions. I do want something similar to battlestar and firefly, those being huge favorites of mine, so recommend me something! Only requirements are that the material be a tv show/series, sci fi, and within the last 15 years or so (no cheesy sci fi please lol)

SG-1 is great! Love it... Andromeda might take a few episodes to get addicting. I watched several seasons of SG-1 and Andromeda one summer when I had nothing to do. Check out Farscape, too. It's different from the other shows.

ok so i think ima buy farscape season 1... but the box set is $115+!!! I was going to get the starburst sets 1-3 for season 1 for half that price, but whats the difference between the two? Will i be missing any actual seasonal content by getting just starbursts 1-3 for season 1?

Dr Who! http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/ I'm sure you must be able to get this on US cable channels? Its been running in England since the stone age but died of a few years back. Then came back and took the UK by storm.

Re: sci fi needed here

Dr. Who is good! We get it here in America but does it come on Sci Fi channel or BBC? IDK, my dad watches this stuff, along with SG-1, farscape i think, etc.

Dr. Who is creepy sometimes lol but its real neat.

oh and i like to watch the TV show where the main actor is a cop, with a daughter, and they live in this weird SUPER SMART genius filled town where weird things happen. whats it called? That one is good too.
Like the cop works with a female cop, but seems like like the CEO's ex-wife, and the CEO seems like hes the badguy usually. And everything in the town is super technology advanced. what is it called?

kspec, you're thinking of Eureka, and Dr. Who is on the Sci-Fi channel.

Re: sci fi needed here

I couldn't get into Dr. Who. I think the camera work bothers me for some reason.
They usually have sales throughout different times of the year where you can get the season sets for SG-1 for very cheap. I don't think you will miss any story content by getting the starburst over the box set for Season 1.

Re: sci fi needed here

i used to enjoy babylon 5 -- it was a very good series

as for star trek -- the next generation was the best and then deep space nine -- good characters and fun stories.

if you fart and no one hears it -- did you really fart?
