Has anyone ever bought one of these mp3 players?

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-2GB-MP3-MP4-...QQcmdZViewItem

or one similar? I know you usually get what you pay for, and this is pretty cheap, and made in China, but.... Has anyone had any luck with one? Would you recommend spending $40-$50 on one? Thanks!

Re: Has anyone ever bought one of these mp3 players?

I dunno... I snagged a 1GB sandisk player for $40 shipped off of www.woot.com Obviously I wasn't expecting much out of it, but I've been reasonably happy with it just as something to toss in my pocket when I go for a jog or something like that.

Then again, since it claims to be a video player, I'd have to assume it's going to be the crappiest of the crappy and echo MZ6's sentiment. I'm sure you can get a decent video player for a hundred bucks, but I'd be pretty wary of anything that's much cheaper.

I've heard that the battery life on these things are really shitty.

I have a sandisk 512MB MP3 player I got for $40. I can fit like 200 songs on it and it is perfect for my needs thusfar. Durable, long battery life - I couldn't ask for much more.

So, go for it!

Re: Has anyone ever bought one of these mp3 players?

Thanks for the input, I do have a 512 mb Sandisk, and it's great and all, holds about 350 songs when I save them as wma files. But I want a video player, and I don't want to spend $150-$200 or more for a name brand. These are cheap knock-offs of Ipods and similar, and if it just works, that's fine for me, considering they're $50 or less.

Does anyone have any experience with the cheap Chinese no-name-brand models? They all sell, so I know someone out there has a couple. Thanks!

Re: Has anyone ever bought one of these mp3 players?

Well, I bought one off of ebay, paid $45 total including shipping for a 1 GB "MP4" player with a 2" screen. It doesn't actually play mp4 files, but it does play video after you convert it to a ".amv" file. It works great, especially for the price!!! I'm sure it isn't as great as an Ipod, but for 1/4 the price, I can't complain at all!
